Good morning SGL. It rained here last night and I was awake reading again at 04:00.
Having seen an item on the news I do hope that Yvie and her OH haven't been messed about with their flight to Menorca. I think recalling that's where she said they were going. It has been a mare for some people with cancelled flights and ruined holidays.

Hello all … just popping in with a pinch and a punch for you all 😉

I had a call from DS the other day … someone had told him there were two Bank Holidays this week but his diary said it’s on Monday … apparently I’m the fount of all wisdom and truth 😇
He’s so busy in his new job, and as at this time of year almost every day involves a festival performance of one sort or another, this weekend had sort of merged with everything else. He knew it was the Jubilee but a double bank holiday??? As he said, he and the rest of those involved in the entertainment industry be working to ensure everyone else has marvellous celebrations. 😂

Have a marvellous long weekend everyone.  🥂 🎉

I saw that on the news last night LB. Awful long queues, over booked holidays/flights and some people had their holidays cancelled at the last minute.  Horrible to queue and wait hours for take off delays, especially with little ones.
Do hope @Yviestevie wasn't one of them and they are now enjoying a break.

    Morning all.

I read that Easyjet had cancelled over 200 flights, not enough staff because they sacked a lot during Covid lockdowns. Ryanair didn't sack staff, they were on furlough, so their flights aren't delayed.

I hope Yvie has a good holiday and a good rest.

The SM was packed yesterday with huge queues at the check outs. We queued for ages then the till closed just before us. I told the woman that my husband is handicapped and we'd queued for ages and she said she couldn't help that and we should go and queue at another till.

Good Morning Ante, LB, Debs, SGL, Dove & Rubee and all to follow, white rabbits 🐇 🐇🐇
Ante 🥳 Congratulations to your mum on her retirement now it has officially begun, the get together with her work colleagues to mark the occasion is a nice idea. It was kind of your friends to bring you gifts for your garden, hope you enjoy your time together,
LB Sorry you had another early awakening today, hope it’s better weather for you today how is your new bog garden looking?
Debs Hope the day at work goes well, sounds like you have got a few treats in store today 🍰
SGL Have a lovely time with your poppets today, hope the weather stays dry so you can go outside,
Dove Good job DS checked on the dates, it sounds like he is going to have a busy time of it,
Rubee I hope OH had a good night after the treatment yesterday, hope you are ok too,
Off to see mum, hoping to do a few bits in the garden for her weather permitting 🤞
    Have a good day everyone.

Good morning Dove, Busy, Ruby and Chive.
Busy, that is absolutely atrocious treatment. I remember one holiday season where people were buying for a siege and the young lady on the checkout was most unhelpful and the queues were trailing round the shop. After 30 minutes of waiting several of us just abandoned our (very full) trolleys and walked out. I should imagine a lot of the frozen goods would have been well into defrost mode. Telling you to queue at another till is a disgrace.
Ruby, how is your OH this morning after all of those botox injections?
Chive, the bog garden is beginning to flourish - when it stops drizzling I'll take a picture. My Echiums are growing away nicely - still a bit small but settled. One of my lemon trees in the GH is struggling but I haven't given up on it yet. The other looks fine. Enjoy your visit with your Mum. I hope that the weather is kind to us all and SGL, have a lovely time with the Poppets. A walk to the duckpond if its dry.
Sis-in-law may be going home today but apparently she has had some sickness still. I'm hoping its good news later on.

    Good Morning LB & Busy,
Im sorry @Busy-Lizzie I completely missed your post, that was such poor customer service it would put me off shopping there again after that experience,
LB Pleased to hear your bog garden is starting to flourish, look forward to seeing a picture when you can. Fingers crossed for your lemon tree, they seem to be fairly tough plants we’ve had a few touch & go moments with ours in the past but still no lemons 🍋🤨
Edited to add: Hope Sis-in-law is feeling well enough to go home later.

Morning everyone - white rabbits and all that. I'm sure when I went to sleep last night it was just into April - where has this year gone??🤣

Had a busy old day yesterday. Dropped a karting trailer off at OH's mate near Peterborough, then drove up to Barnsley to finalise the order for the new campervan, then drove a bit further north to pick up f&c's to eat with MIL, then we drove nearly 200 miles home and got back at 10.30pm.

On the way up to P'boro one of the rear windows in the van suddenly shattered. Fortunately the glass didn't all fall out and we were able to gaffer-tape it into place when we got to P'boro. Spent much of the trip to Barnsley on the phone to insurers trying to organise glass replacement. Of course, it's not a standard size / shape so spent last night & this morning chasing round trying to find out where they could source a replacement.

Hopefully we've done that and hopefully this repair can be done before we leave for Canada but the long bank holiday is not helping. The van is insecure and not really weatherproof and too tall to go in the garage.... 1st world problems I know - but very irritating.

BL - I'm not looking forward to the SM tomorrow. Sorry to hear of your experience yesterday. It wasn't handled well.

Dove - we were saying last night (when talking about glass suppliers / car window repairers) just how many people work weekends / bank holidays. With family members in the NHS, friends in the police, a husband who was an airline pilot, a brother who's a lorry driver and nieces who've done bar work - we are well aware that bank holidays are extremely busy times for many (possibly most) people.

LB - I do hope Yvie has made it on holiday - she was so looking forward to it. Our return flight from the US with BA has been mucked about with 5 times now. The last was a email while we were in Germany simply to say 'It's cancelled'. We were given some very long and unsuitable (except in an emergency) diversionary flights to get home but, in the end, we decided to stick with the original flight plan - but a day later. We havefingers firmly crossed there are no problems with the flight out.
