I'm hoping Marti will sort out watering the lawn in @Ladybird4
I wish I could claim some credit but I've just been making the brews and getting on with my day (and night!) job. I've been out to do a bit of pointing, face-pulling and standing with my hands on my hips and a thoughtful expression on my face. However, I ain't fooling anyone The drainage expert is the one who has been putting a good shift in. I just hope it makes a big difference and the pond is gone forever.
Good morning everyone. I was watching a charming programme about some of the interesting friend matches animals make. I can’t believe it’s Friday already. Time for tea.
Morning everyone, Feels a bit chilly this morning. Oh heck @Ladybird4 Friday 13th 😱 Sorry you had such an awful nights sleep. Hope you can have a restful day. Oops @Topbird you weren't there when I posted last night, glad it wasn't camel 😉 Hope you enjoyed your meal. I've got some unmentionables to do this morning. Then if the grass is dry enough, I'll be out with the lawn mower. It's shot up after the downpour. Time for another cup of tea 🍵 I can't believe it's Friday already either Rosie 🤦♀️
Good morning morning everyone. You programme sounds interesting Rosie.Sorry you had a bad night LB . I hope you have time to rest this morning .Enjoy your cuppa Lily .
It’s very windy this morning .I hope it settles soon ,I need to do some tidying outside .
New lawn is fully laid and watered. Drainage guy has set up his hose/sprinkler so I just need to turn the tap on for 30 mins each day (that it doesn't rain) for the next couple of weeks. Then he'll come and pick it up. Great service!
Good afternoon . It’s quiet on here . I guess most of you will be gardening . I have been in the garden most of the day .Potted 6bareroot hostas . One of my favourite plants even though slugs like them .Planted some bedding plants in my troughs and pots .I hope LB is having a good time with her friends .Time for a cuppa .
Afternoon all - just back from the sauna / mineral baths again. It was lovely. OH has extended his bike ride but I've come back for a much needed cup of tea.
As promised here are a few pic of the new gradierwerk in Bad Rothenfeld. I say new - it's 200 years old! The old one is much smaller and about 40 years older. This one is a massive structure - some 500m long and as tall as a house.
I've probably bored you with this info before but gradierwerks were built in inland spa towns where there are natural saline springs. The water is pumped to the top of the structure and then filters down through twigs (usually birch I think). As a result there is a fine salt mist / spray around the structure and the air smells like it does at the seaside so presumably has a bit of ozone as well as salt in it.
To this day people sit by and walk around the structures for the supposed health benefits of breathing the ozone / salt air.
We've never seen these structures outside Germany but they are a common (huge) feature of many spa towns.
Moving on to Delft in the Netherlands tomorrow so we've not too far to go to catch the ferry on Monday. Hope you've all had lovely productive days. I've a feeling my new German sprinkler will be seeing some action next week. It's very dry here as well - don't think we've had any rain at all.
Have a good trip @Songbird-1 and hope LB has enjoyed her day out. Any news from Jack?
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
