I haven't worked out the tally from last night yet but I retreated from the clouds of midgies at about 12.30 and was up again at 5.30 to check the trap. Luckily the moths were worth losing some sleep for. Here's one for moth name lovers like me and @Fire ; a rather worn-out Maiden's Blush.
and I thought this was a local rarity that's only found within a few miles of my house but it turns out to be an almost identical, and also fairly rare Double Line. A declining species and not previously recorded in my borough on the NBN atlas. It's still in the trap so I will have to go and get some better photos just in case.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
The mild winter probably helped a lot. I think I had 10 new species of moth for my garden last night. Just waiting for some confirmations now but fingers crossed.

I can't really recommend mine. It works well enough but it was expensive for what it is when I bought it and the price has risen a lot since then. The real bonus for me is that it flat-packs when not in use.
