A few photos from today. The roses are definitely struggling with the lack of water - many of the leaves drying up and flowers much smaller, fewer with paper-thin petals. L'aimant, Ebbtide, Arthur Bell, Olivia Rose Austin and Red finesse.

@WhereAreMySecateurs , @cooldoc just from the link that cooldoc posted , uncle tom's is pure potassium phosphite. I'd be shocked if seaweed extract ( i use maxicrop, looked on label , doesn't have constituents) is "pure" or even reliably exactly consistent ratios of anything. Looking online , some of the maxicrop seaweed biostimulant products do give npk levels ( US site , formula may be diffferent) , plus talk about up to 70 different minerals.Â
Haven't tried Uncle Tom's so can't opine on efficacy vs maxicrop or any other seaweed feed ( not plugging maxicrop, its the only one i've ever used , no idea if better/worse than others).
I've removed a lot of suckers from my standards @Nollie, from the trunk of Canary Bird mainly but also a root one from that and one from Eden Std. I'm confused what you mean by suckers on the top graft though, aren't those all the desired ones?
My Bring Me Sunshine is not bringing me joy at all, it's still got blotchy leaves, lanky canes and yellow blooms fading to very pale yellow. Am glad yours is good @Marlorena, your Elisabeth (and Cooldoc's)Â is lovely, so much more than DA's pics showed.
I've pulled off many crispy and yellow leaves, deadheaded deformed buds, watered and tomato feed dosed the pots and most of the results of the heat have gone. Still no rain at all.
My favourite yellow is Faustinia
Wildberry and Jingle BellsMunstead WoodThe very first blooms of a second flush Mme. Isaac Pereire, Utopia, Eglantyne and Rose de ReschtHerzogin Christiana and a Canary Bird hip. There were loads but the birds like them, they are large, shiny red, even I fancy them.
@WhereAreMySecateurs I should warn you that L'aimant does get very bad black spots though. @cooldoc yes, I do agree that the individual photos are much more worthwhile rather than the collage; sometimes they take an inordinate amount of time for the pages to load, especially if you have poor internet. @Tack, Faustinia is looking quite good. I love yellow floribunda roses. There is something quite uplifting about the colour yellow 💛 The second flush is definitely in full swing here, and I haven't fed the potted roses yet. I'm still waiting for rain to soak the plants before applying the rose fertilizer. To dilute and feed tomorite takes too much time; so haven't done that either. It was all very well during the pandemic when we were WFH. Unfortunately, it's no longer the case 😳.

I think Uncle Toms is, as it says, a specific tonic not a fertiliser as such and different again to seaweed tonic with all the latter’s micronutrients. It’s quite confusing to the chemically illiterate like me as Potassium Phosphite is a form of phosphorus (P) and not potassium as in tomato food, sulfate of potash etc. (K). The main benefits of Potassium Phosphite appear to be in strengthening the roots and immune system of plants to help it fight off fungal diseases and that it’s better absorbed when used as a foliar spray.
Sorry you’ve had standard sucker problems too @Tack, but thanks, thats kind of reassuring it’s not just mine. I did wonder if mine hadn’t been properly disbudded or something. By suckers on the top graft I mean from the graft between the main trunk and the scion (GdeF) at the point of budding. Here’s a photo showing the wound where I tore off the sucker, which def was one, since it was a huge fat thing with totally different big, crinkly glaucous leaves:
Your Herzogin Christiana is gorgeous, btw, doing the whole cupped bloom thing with no balling or crisping.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Here's a question - I notice that some older canes start to sprout new thick 'canes' from them. The plants seem to swap over to this way of putting out new growth instead of putting out basal canes.
Does anyone else notice this?
Do you know why a plant would do this instead of basals?

Does anyone use Uncle Tom's Rose Tonic? Is it worth the money and hype? Costs about £32 for a litre so it didn't automatically fall into my basket.
@WhereAreMySecateurs wonder if it's the same as other seaweed products..??
