That's a great height for an obelisk @Omori. And the points you make are spot on. Probably the reason why I'm beginning to shy away from buying Austin's now.

All these beautiful rose & garden photos, I’m having to sit on my hands to stop myself going and ripping up the grass out front to start the border!

@WhereAreMySecateurs I have to spend time/money on the house now, otherwise I would! I think it would get a little overwhelming trying to maintain the front and the massive border I’ve already put in out the back!

What is this "house" thing you speak of?

David Austin Roses use a lot of estate agent speak.
Reminds me of what I read yesterday on Peter Beales' website about their new rose 'Rachel's Joy':
"has a lovely sweet subtle fragrance as it opens."

Is anyone still waiting for any roses to bloom?

Yes, I have lots of buds on 'Ghislaine de Feligonde', which is recovering from a prolonged hissy-fit after being pulled up out of a comfy veg bed and planted in ordinary soil during a rainstorm in late March.

And the buds on 'Lady of the Lake' remain in suspended animation. I think it overheard me contemplating removal of the big holly above, and is waiting until it hears the saw before blooming.

They don't have an easy life here!

My DA Amelia is very slow to bloom and always is the last. Has buds so waiting patiently for them to open. The whole rose bush hasn't grown very big either whereas DA Grace is taking over the rose bed hiding lots of others.
