@peteS ..yes that'll be the same one.. and that's a price worth paying..Ā I used to grow it years ago when growing those kinds of roses.. I would still like it, if I wasn't downsizing..
Thank you @Nollie I am starting to recover right now, after a good restorative care. No need to say that I was not able to do anything in the garden till now, and now temps are too high to even think of doing something in the garden. So I stay with this mess awaiting a better moment.
i am a little disappointed, I had so many things to do: a new path, pruning, add some arches and obelisks, buy new roses and perennials, take the weeds out and moving some plantsā¦. Many, many things. Alas.
Anyway, I have decided I must have Julia Child, I need a yellow rose and all of the photos all of you posted show a very healthy and vigorous rose, I think she is wonderful.
Finally, only yesterday I wrote that other than Desprez and Belle Vichyssoise my roses were sleeping and, of course, two DA roses decides to prove me wrong:
Tess of the dāUberville, put out a blossom and even some new buds. Unfortunately this rose, as much as I like her, is kind of pink instead of very red here, and thatās why I am searching for a climbing red rose which remain red even in the heat.
Lady Emma Hamilton, I didnāt see she was going to bloom again
Afternoon everyone. Ā Can anyone identify this rose please? Ā I bought it for a tenner a few years ago and itās a real ādoerā every year. Ā The blooms are approx. 4ā across. Ā No scent but the bees love it. Ā Any ideas? Ā Sorry if a bit vague. Ā TIA š¹Ā
Ah yes, I was focussing on the colour rather than the new look @purplerallim! Well changeable weather (mainly heat and drying winds) plays havoc with my roses, smaller, deformed blooms, variable colour etc., so it could still be that. Maybe give her some extra water to see if that helps?
@dabolem you could always try Crimson Glory, which Marlorena recently suggested to me as one sheād heard was heat tolerant. Red roses will always turn more pink in hot weather though so thatās something we with hotter summers probably just have to accept and simply enjoy the deeper colours in Spring and Autumn. I share your frustration, I havenāt been ill but itās still far too hot to tackle my growing list of garden chores and projects!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

.. as your rose isn't scented, the foliage is small and glossy, and I presume it's a shrub then I'd say it's 'Coral Flower Carpet'..
..this is 'Sally Holmes'
