@WhereAreMySecateurs Dee-Lish etc., is a really great rose for some and it could be for you, although interesting to hear @newbie77 ’s assessment. Mine is only new so premature judgment but outer petals on buds crisp here too, before it hits 30c (the tipping point for many roses). The colour has overtones of coral - warmer than it looks in the photo - which I don’t like, plus they age badly. Here are the same blooms four days apart in morning sun only:
Totally unfazed and uncrisped are Astronomia, Julia Child and my favourite Stormy Weather:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Marlorena I have Nathalie growing myself and it's still labelled, so I know it isn't that. So annoying this, I really should keep the labels on. I've checked my sales records at both DA and TW and both proved fruitless, so I can only think I bought it from the local GC sometime in the past. Thanks anyway, may be it will be forever a mystery.
Does anyone know what this is on one of my rose’s stems? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen something like this on this forum before and I’m pretty sure it’s something really not very nice, but I can’t remember at all what it was…
@WhereAreMySecateurs i am exactly like you😅 i can't fall asleep at night going through my lists with rose orders! I plan to get Augusta, she seems gorgeous!
@peteS thanks for the info, good to know they strive even planted so close to each other!Â
Thanks for the added pictures of Dee-Lish, Nollie. It's a pity the Catalan sun isn't working out with this rose. What a fabulous coral colour, though...
ETA: STORMY WEATHER looks incredible in both your and murasaki's pics, though I'll use the amazing alternative name if I get her!
Hi @Oliya it's the scar caused when a saw fly lays its eggs. I tend to scrape them with my nail to try and kill the eggs, but keep an eye out for the wiggly caterpillar-like larvae chomping on the edge of leaves, and squish them.
@Pianoplayer thank you for the information! I did scrape the eggs with the knife (all creepy-crawlies make me cringe…) - I think I could feel the eggs popping…
I haven't been out and taken photos for a while as I have been in bed with flu. The garden feels a bit like it's on a cusp now - not yet in full summer flood, borage not yet filling out, dahlias budding. The red climbers are in a second flush and doing well. I wonder if this speaks well of Nollie's alfalfa feed; they are certainly blooming much better this year compared to last.

Jamain is doing well this year, lasting well. The empty bits of the new fence should be pretty full next year.
