J, I wondered if you might like a variagated aspidistra for a shady spot in your bed.

@TheGreenMan, is that a Carex Bronze grass you have in bottom corner right hand side of plot? I was just wondering as it looks exactly like ours and I just wanted to warn you that, in ( a relatively short period of ) time, that will grow really quite large and overhang the edging round that corner of the plot. I am always cutting ours down , even in summer, as it gets huge, the grass grows up, as well as out, and the overhangs like a waterfall, and I am always tripping up on it.😬 Please be careful as we don't want any accidents🤭😮😊

    It is.

I have three in my front garden.  They don't seem to be too big just yet.  I'll keep my eye on them. Its the sea holly I have to be careful about in summer.  I'll probly dodge that and get entangled in the grass and fall back towards it! :D:smile:

I'm gonna post a pic of the bed you've all helped me with.  I'll do one at the end of each month.

    Here's March's:

    Good stuff @TheGreenMan.
Are you planning on putting in some bulbs later in the year? I can't remember if we suggested that. Certainly loads of daffs will work.  :)
You may find some of those plants outgrow the space in a couple of years, but it'll depend on how well they establish etc. Even if they do spread too much, it's a good opportunity for diving and having pieces elsewhere, which is great for a coherent look.  ;)

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Hi. Yes I’ll be putting some daffodil bulbs in.

I wanted to cram it for the first summer to see what thrives and what doesn’t.

I’m going to create another bed once the pond is done so anything that gets to big can be moved to that one (or in the front garden which isn’t as densely planted…..yet!)

If you’re still looking for year around yellow plants, coral bells may be really nice. These days it’s even pointless to name a specific variety, they have dozens of each color haha. You can just look online which color you like best - from lime yellow to honey/amber leaves ! And flower stalks get really tall once established, like a fountain
