They did bring back memories Ruby. Before they had 'no tarnish' buttons it was one of my jobs to polish all the buttons using one of those brass slides. I wish I had a pound for every time I polished each and every button!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
LB, thank you for sharing those wonderful photographs. It's such lovely memory to you and your family.
It's interesting how weekend ended so quickly. I had a very lazy day, and must admit that it's was nice for a change. Everything for tomorrow is prepared and I can continue to do nothing for rest of the evening.Β
It is an amazing memory Ante. When I think that those things have sat hidden in a battered old case for well over 20 years, they are still looking in reasonable condition. I'm glad you got all your tasks done for today as I know Monday is not your favourite day. Enjoy your evening.

It must have been so emotional for you, LB, unpacking your Dad's uniforms.
I have done some gardening this afternoon.Β I've fed 16 roses and 9 clematis, planted 5 primroses, a pot of tete a tete daffodils, a pot of snowdrops and a saxifrage. I've tidied up the gravel slope and cut down 2 erigeron karvenskianos, which were smothering other plants, and pruned fuchsia Delta Sarah. Good to be out in the garden. Not very warm but the sun came out.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Evening all, OH WOW, @Ladybird4 thank you for sharing your wonderful photos. It must have been wonderful looking through all your Dads belongs, holding and touching it all again. What wonderful memories for you LB. @Songbird-1 sorry, didn't answer you the other day. New phone is a S@m$*#gΒ had the same make last time too. Really pleased with the new one.Β
Will say goodnight to you all, sleep well and sweet dreams everyoneΒ
