I find this absolutely unacceptable. Surely the system needs to change.

It should be abolished. Why the need anyway? To make things fair, why not " Inspect" every company and all staff too , anyone in employment in fact? I don't know how those of us of a certain age, ever managed to get through school without being Ofsted-ed 🙄

    I saw that story @pansyface

Whatever happened to common sense ? It's all a case of "Computer says no", both in this story and the Ofsted one.

@AnniD I totally agree.  The Coroner went as far as they could without directly laying the blame for her death on the Inspector and the way the inspection was carried out.  Schools do need to be checked to ensure a decent standard of teaching, but a single word used to describe all elements of the function is obviously not realistic.
Edited to add:  "Ofsted chief inspector Amanda Spielman apologised for the distress it had caused Mrs Perry and said next week's inspections would be delayed by a day."  One ******* day!!!  They need to suspend all inspections until there is a full investigation into the way they are currently run and solid rules to provide an independent complaints process for schools to report aggressive behaviour by inspectors.  To my mind, the inspector should not provide any feedback whilst at the school.  A full report should be created and vetted before any comment is made, and the school should have the right to appeal before anything is made public.

So should hospitals not be inspected?

@pansyface the immigration is clearly unfit for purpose, although I don't think that will come as a surprise to anybody.  This lady needs to go back to France then return on an inflatable.  Claim asylum and she will be able to live here for the rest of her life!

Yes I was going to say that all the laboratories I worked for were rigorously inspected. I  am sure @punkdoc would agree,  anyone who has been inspected by the MHRA knows what it's like to be put through the ringer.
That said I  do find it extraordinary that it was only their record keeping that was at fault not their safeguarding process that were considered inadequate.  I agree the process needs to be overhauled.

Yes, it is essential that all institutions that care for us are rigorously inspected. I endured many CQC inspections, they were very stressful, but necessary.
I think in this case Ofsted got it wrong, but that doesn't mean they should be disbanded.

As with many things in life, it's not what you do, it's the way that you do it.
