I can think of a few scenarios for the reason to return to the UK for banking reasons.
1. The bank genuinely does require a face to face meeting for regulatory purposes, or because their own rules are archaic and haven't caught up with the 21st century.
2. It's being used as an excuse to return to the UK for other purposes.
3. They hope other people will think the figures involved are so vast that it will boost their 'importance' to others.
4. They simply have more money than sense. That would put in question pansyface's assertion that they spend money faster than they earn it. They must have access to funds somewhere to fund their travels. Maybe they've won the Aussie lottery, if there is such a thing.
No 4 would get my vote given the elephant arrival mentioned in previous post.
A few weeks ago I had to ring GP for appointment, normally, you could go to the reception staff and book a follow up. On that phone occasion,I was 6th in the queue,it took 40 minutes to get through. Bearing in mind then,I had to wait 3.5 weeks for a phone appointment, thought I had better ring now Nd book the next one. First time, after waiting, listening to options, the music,"we are unable to answer your call", disconnected. Tried again, got as far as "you are number 22 in the queue"
I'm curmudgeonly that in addition to the "nice" wildlife attracted to the "meadow" in our back garden, we now have ticks. Both OH and I have picked one up after gardening in the past week.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
