My wife and the kids have gone out for the day and I'm stuck here doing plumbing jobs. The shower hose had an internal rupture so that had to be replaced and the downstairs sink was blocked again so that had to have a good clean out too. The worst job though was replacing the downstairs toilet waste pipe. Apart from costing £20 for a whole new pipe rather than just being able to replace the seal, and being a manky job at the best of times, I also found a void in the floor tiles around the waste pipe so all the 'water' that had leaked out is trapped under the floor now. Hopefully a good bead of silicon will keep it out of sight and out of mind.
I also turned up at Screwfix at 2 minutes to 11 which was terrible timing for the 2 minute silence. Nice to see the store enforcing it though.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
A neighbour's car alarm went off about 10 times last night between 2 and 3am. I've no idea why they didn't just go out and lock it with the key rather than just keep turning it off and hoping it didn't go off again.

We had that problem with a neighbours car a while back … it turned out that he wasn’t using the car enough for the battery to recharge and it was triggering the automatic alarm … he was elderly, a bit deaf and slept at the back of the house and didn’t know it was happening until we told him. He took it to the garage who said that without keeping it charged up it would keep happening. They said locking it with the key would make no difference. After a few weeks of trying to drive the car much more he gave up and got rid of the car. He says he’s enjoying the freedom from worry, more money in his bank and the social interaction on the bus. 😊

If, like me, your car isn't used as much as it used to be now that you or we have retired and your battery keeps draining down through lack of use, you might want to invest in one of these. I have it, and it's simple to use and gently trickle charges your battery to keep it in a usable state..

I suspect it wouldn't work for me. Our 'spare' car i.e. my wife's Micra is parked in almost full shade at this time of year and there is nowhere else to park it.

Beko is in the annexe so I've never used it, but I prefer the Indesit to the Bosch
