  • I agree @Allotment Boy … we used to buy Bosch and they used to last at least twice as long as other makes but sadly that is no longer the case. The last two lasted five and then four years!  The last was replaced with an Indesit which lasted (with one repair) from when we moved here in 2011 until earlier this year … we’ve replaced that one with another Indesit.  Half the price of a Bosch.

  • Don't recall the make but several years ago when our drum went my OH changed it. He's always been handy.   Funnily our son never took to DIY! Obviously not an inherited trait.

  • The engineer said one reason the repair would cost so much was because of the weight of the drum they had to hire a car type hoist to take it out and install the new one!😱

On another point I went to a well known DIY  shop the other day, all I  bought was some shed and fence treatment,  a couple of bits of beading timber,  and some descaling fluid the bill---£98😖.  However when researching the cost of sheds recently for the Allotments,  the price shock made me realise I had better look after the fences and shed here at home.

Really pleased with our new Bosch.   It's efficient and very quiet and not made in China.

I found a section of my fence and decking have rotted through. All tanalised timber and only about 15 years old. The life expectancy should be at least another 10 years but the constant wet winters are clearly not good for it. At some point this winter I've got to cut out all the rotten sections and see if I can patch it up but I'm not looking forward to the bill :|

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

@Allotment Boy timber price increases have been incredible.  We had raised beds renewed last year and agreed to a fixed price for labour and then timber price on the day of purchase.  When the job was completed we decided we did want timber capping after initially saying we wouldn't.  The price of the timber for that had increased by 60% in about a month.

Well we have gone for a Siemens this time,  same  group as Bosch, but they offer a 5yr warranty.  We'll see 🤞.

I’ve had my Siemens for years,  it’s got some good features,  eco wash,  1400 spin speed that they don’t all have.  Quick wash,  the only thing I don’t like about it is when it’s finished it keeps beeping at you.

Squeezy sauce bottles with sphincters  ... fine when the bottle has loads of stuff inside, but  'f**ts' everywhere when at the last noggins.
