On the Harry & Megan saga ..... I've no intention of watching the Netflix thing .... would sooner gouge my eyes out. But we keep getting bombarded on the "news" with snippets of the their performance .... complete with crocodile tears.
FFS I can't feel remotely sorry for them. Try walking in the shoes of a couple in Soweto for a day. Then they would know what racism is, what misery is, what it's like to be hungry and frightened. Or maybe swap places with a couple in Ukraine.
They are spoilt, privileged, and pampered. Come on BBC lets have some real news, and not just marketing for The latest Harry and Megan production.
Can you tell I'm not a fan?

There's a lot of inappropriate stuff crowding the news at the moment. Half of the news is football some days when there has already been blanket TV coverage
It was in the news that a couple from Ukraine who had tried to settle in a city in the UK had decided to return home as trying to rent and deal with all the problems that faced them in the uk were too much to deal with.

I agree with you @Bee witched. My sympathy will only stretch so far. They wanted privacy...errr, so why are they constantly banging on in the media, and inviting comment and attention. He/they didn't want to be in the R. Family any more, apparently. Well b*gger off, shut up, and earn your own money.
They could try living the life some other folk deal with. Look at those poor parents of that young lad killed by that American woman. They've persevered for three years, when many people would have crumbled. They feel they have justice, although I personally thought the sentence was paltry, but that's just my opinion. She didn't get to be with her son when he died. If you're a mother, try imagining that. At least my sister and BIL got that. Glad I got that off my chest. Sorry.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I was screaming at the TV when I posted the earlier comments on Harry and Megan, Felt calm immediately after ! Just to sit and write something on line about the way you feel can help.

The media of all types seems intent on creating panic amongst parents of young children. A medical expert, epidemiologist I think, was interviewed on BBC Breakfast this morning. His observations were enlightening to say the least. To paraphrase him, the numbers this year are higher than average but far lower than they were 5 years ago. I don't recall anything in the media then.
I'm not saying parents shouldn't be aware of the symptoms but I saw a report yesterday that GP surgeries are being overwhelmed by parents demanding to see a doctor, even when the symptoms being displayed by their children are not those of Strep A.
That’s a useful bit of info, KT53. I was wondering whether the infection rates are higher than normal, or just being reported more. I suppose at least it has raised awareness among parents about what to look for, but unfortunately has spread panic as well. That said, my niece’s little daughter is currently on antibiotics and recovering well, so a bit near home.
This thread is ideal for a good rant ..... very therapeutic.
I also thought the sentence for that American woman was too lenient. Presumably the driving ban only applies in the UK ... and she's unlikely to come here anyway. She could have got some sort of community payback order to be served in the US.

His parents seem to be accepting the verdict, although I suspect they also would have liked something heavier by way of sentence, even if suspended. They do now feel they have justice and can move on. It's easy to criticise the woman for not coming back to the UK for sentence, but how many can say honestly that in a reverse situation they would happily go to a foreign country for a court case if they didn't have to?
