We had just left home this morning to go to visits friends living about 100 miles away who we haven't seen for months. The phone went in the car, thank goodness for bluetooth, and they informed me that one of the people they were out with yesterday had just informed them they had tested positive for Covid. Bummer, but there we go. 100 mile trip turned into about 1/2 mile. Yes we really were still that close to home when they called us.
Good thing they've got all those record profits to pay compo to everyone involved. I would have loved £65 a day when our boiler wouldn't work back when I was a student. One thing though; "Rania Hunaishi, 25, a student with a one-year-old who is currently pregnant..." Could that not have been worded slightly better?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I saw a lady selling sheep skins out of the back of a van at the market this week. £7 for a small hide with short, dense wool. I've cut a pair of insoles for my slipper boots from it and now I have nice lovely toasty, comfortable feet. My feet will probably end up smelling like sheep for a while but since my wife's sense of smell still isn't back properly yet I'll probably get away with it.

Why do rechargeable AAA batteries come in four packs when so many things use three at a time?
On a similar subject, why is it often cheaper to buy complete new items than to replace the batteries? My wife has bought a load of battery tea lights which use button batteries. We threw the old lot away because new ones were cheaper than batteries.

Because they want you to buy 3 packs so you can run 4 things at the same time. If you don't have 4 things, then you may think "What the hell " and go and buy another thing whether you want/need it or not. " a cunning plan " ( Tony Robinson in Blackadder ) springs to mind
For the price of three packs I could buy enough throw away batteries to last for years. I've had to do a battery audit after finding out that quite a few of my rechargables spent most of the year in the loft with the Xmas decorations. My wife didn't bother to debattery anything before putting them away last year. There's also some hidden away in children's toys but I'm not sure which ones. I have to check covertly or I'll be asked to provide fresh batteries for some toys I'd rather never hear from again.
