Because they can, seems to be the answer. Some folk have no shame.  :|

Quite possibly @Lizzie27, but there also those devious shysters who do the house clearance, and will give a quote that's miles cheaper than everyone else. The reason being - they just dump it, so they aren't paying for the proper disposal.
I think one or two of the fly tipping scenarios I reported were definitely in that category.

No booking needed here and there's a brand new recycling centre five minutes away or a big tip ten minutes away. Even if there wasn't I still don't see why throwing it into the woods seemed like a good plan.

I'm not suggesting that fly tipping is a good plan.  Simply stating that round here the council isn't making it easy to dispose of stuff.  When my brother died and I was clearing his flat I was making multiple trips every day for about a week.  I think I mentioned before that he was a hoarder so there was a lot of stuff to get rid of.  With the current rules for our tip it would have taken me at least 3 or 4 weeks to get rid.

I agree @KT53 - it makes no sense for councils to make it difficult for folk to get rid of stuff. I seem to remember there was debate about it during or just after lockdowns etc - or there was up here anyway. I appreciate that staffing some centres will have created problems, but surely by now, that must have improved?

The alternative is hiring a skip, and then you have to do it quickly enough so that every other moron in the area doesn't fill it up with their junk....

Sorry that wasn't directed at you. It looks like this stuff might have been cleaned out from a house or flat, maybe left behind by a tenant. The smell is pretty bad so there must be a lot of old food in there. Hopefully the foxes don't rip it apart before the council get to it.

Was it snowing anywhere else today? It's stopped now I've finished putting up the Xmas lights of course.

We have some in the forecast for the end of the week @wild edges. The north east has a yellow warning. Not unusual for the time of year.
We just had frost/ice overnight and this morning. Cloud's in now, but temp's a bit too high for snow - 4 degrees.

When clearing my brother's flat a skip was a non-starter for the reason you give.  The skip would either have been full - or nicked - before I got anything into it. Although his flat was in a supported living block (living entirely independent but somebody available if required) the rest of the estate left a lot to be desired.

Now the other one is building his immune system. There won't  be an inch of the house that hasn't been thrown up on soon :| I'm very relieved to have this tumble dryer now anyway. The cost doesn't seem quite as bad when there's a mountain of spewy washing to get sorted.

When I was walking my son to school last week there was a Labramongrel™ running around like an idiot amongst the traffic on the icy road. The owner was way off across the field and didn't seem concerned about where the dog went. I'm guessing they don't clear up their dog crap either if they're miles from the dog half the time.

Well I just put the 6th load of washing on for the day. :|  The electric bill this month is going to be eye watering.
