@Ergates they are still looking, but a property identical one they were interested in 12 months ago is now out of reach for them. The actual price hasn't increased much but the mortgage cost would take all her wages, and some of her husband's. They are sensible enough not to want to stretch that much.
I suspect we have been spoiled by loaw inflation and interest rates since the economic crash in 2008. When we bought our first house early in 1982, interest rates on mortgages were 16% and inflation had been 11.87% in 1981. Over 1982 that fell to 8.6% and interest rates eventually dropped but we kept up the same level of payments and thus reduced the debt faster.
Having said that, house prices were reasonable then. The ordinary 3 bed 30s end terrace we bought in Harrow for £33000 we sold for £90000 just 10 years later and is now worth £520000 which is a ludicrous testament to successive government failures - both left and right wing - to address the need for decent housing stock throughout the UK but also failure to improve infrastructure and government investment outside the London-centric zone to spread and ensure equal job, health and educational opportunities for all across the country.

My dad bought our first house for £1,000. Just sold for almost a million.
@B3. You need one of these, keeps the belt well away from your neck and your attributes. Perfectly legal, in case of having to break hard they just pop off.
I’ve used them for years.

I bet they really struggle to find the black and white milk produced by Fresians
