Consider it done, Hostafan. I completely agree that we really shouldn't have to fund the riff-raff end of the "royal" spectrum, but I still find your remarks in dubious taste. The Queen wasn't riff-raff, the lady had style.
Why don't you just watch the telly? I'm sure the tone might suit you better. I really don't give a monkey's about any of them . Certainly no more than they think of me. There's also a handy "ignore" feature which means you'd not have to be burdened by my dubious taste.
it's a curmudgeons' thread on a gardening forum. NOT Majesty magazine. We're allowed to have different points of view. I've seen nothing spiteful, but I'm neither uber sensitive nor looking to be offended.
Well said @BenCotto. There is a time and a place for everything and on this sad day, perhaps those with the stronger views could defer airing them here....at least for today?
I am not "grieving" per se, but l am sad at the passing of a lady in every sense of the word who was, by an accident of birth and circumstance, placed in a role where her sense of duty and service carried her through. Heaven knows she made mistakes, she was only human, but no duvet days or "Can't be arsed days" for her, for over 70 years. She lost a much loved husband recently, some members of her family have behaved like absolute morons (to put it politely) and caused a great deal of hurt, but she was still carrying out her duties 2 days ago. She was one of the last of the old school ,and whether you agree with the institution of monarchy or not, at least deserves the same respect as anyone else. May she rest in peace.
