I was just googling NHS dentists (via the NHS site it gives an option to check in your post code area) - and my dentist came up! So my next port of call is to see if they'll shift me onto their NHS books and do the same work at NHS rates!
    Good luck with your appointment!

Good luck with that. Might work, but a good chance that the local health board has already used up the money it had to pay for NHS dentistry, and your dentist has no allocation left to take on new NHS treatments.
It can be quite soul destroying. For every dentist I knew who did private work mainly for the money, I knew three who went private because the bureaucracy and restrictions became too much. As well as the stress of having to rush work rather than carry it out to the standard we were trained to do.

Definitely avoid crowns unless there is no alternative, once the tooth material has been cut away, it can’t be put back!

Totally stressed out now. Daughter on the way to the US. Nervous flyer, and the plane left the gate an hour late. Watched it on flight tracking app as it went along the taxi way, then turned round and went back to the gate. Now over three hours late, and still at the gate. Hoping she is coping ok. I’m not!

Steve Tu,if you have no luck, happy to PM with my dentist. There is a 6 months waiting list, but she's just taken on my daughter and grandkids. I was actually recommend to this dentist by someone I met on here. She lived about 10 miles away,we got on really well, unfortunately after a really traumatic divorce, she moved to Somerset.

@Ergates I can understand your concern, but it there is a problem it's far better to discover it when still on the ground.  Hopefully she's well on the way home now.

Hope your daughter got away ok in the end and she's now safe and secure in the US.

Thanks for your kind offer. To be honest, I've been blessed really - I met my wife and had 25 years with her and have two amazing kids (pain in the a**** at times, but which kids aren't?) - and a brilliant extended family.  So this is really just an irritant eh? In the grand scheme of things, it's a gnat's bite on an elephant's hide.

Plane finally left three hours late, but daughter and OH safely arrived in US. Don’t know what the problem was, but had text at 4 am, to say they had landed, that it was actually all fine, and a funny story to tell tomorrow. Can’t imagine what! OH and I have been speculating wildly but not come up with anything plausible so far. I’m just so grateful not to hear that she had a panic attack after sitting in the plane waiting to leave for so long, and had to be taken off.

We had a similar experience coming home from the USA.  Everybody in and seated, engines powered up and I thought "That doesn't sound right".  Engine powered back down, everybody off, 3 hours later we were on another plane and on our way.  We only just got to the next airport in time for our flight home.  In fairness the cabin crew were brilliant.  They knew about people with connecting flights and provided information about which gate we would need to get to.

we were on a plane to Sri Lanka and turned back at the end of the taxi "lane".
We sat on the plane for so long they ended up feeding us, then we got the all clear and flew all the way there ( 13 hours ) with no food.
We were also held in the departure gate in Gatwick as there was a problem with the plane. " a spare part is being biked from Heathrow "
Mercifully , the just swapped us onto another plane

The last flight I took was almost 10 years ago now but one engine wouldn't start and after endless tinkering they decided that revving the hell out of the other engine might pursuade it to join in. Apparently it worked and we eventually got going. Then on arrival we weren't allowed off the plane because they could get the engine to shut off. Budget airline :|

The last time I was on a plane was nearly 20 years ago. I don't plan to ever get on another if I can help it
