Did no one have that thunder this morning,  put the power out briefly.  Lots of rain.

I saw a big fork of lightning just before we had the very brief rain.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

My OH just came in after rescuing a bumblebee from the kitchen and said "lt's raining",  imagine my excitement.
It must have been literally 12 drops. Stopped now.

@wild edges ". I saw on our radar that it was just skimming across the bottom of Wales. The lightening was indeed large forks. And the crashes were the loudest I’ve heard for a long time.

We had about two minutes of rain this morning. Outside thermometer is now reading 32C.

Ordered something from TKMaxx a week ago, but didn’t receive an email with a tracking code until the weekend. Included pictures of the DPD logo, and when I pressed the tracking button, it took me to the DPD website, but no recognition of the code. I thought it might not cooperate until the parcel had been dispatched, so duly checked back at intervals. Ring at the doorbell this afternoon, the Evri delivery person with my parcel! I went to the Evri site, put the code in, and there is all the delivery information including the expected delivery time. Would have been useful earlier! Not amused!

We did see that the other side of the moor looked clear.

Our outside temperature sensor is now reporting 37.6, down from a maximum of 39.6 a couple of hours ago. We have a few bits of fluffy high cloud but it doesn't look like there's going to be any rain :(.

On the plus side, it's very quiet outside.

When I worked up that way it amused me to see who'd got the prime RCoG  spot  . It was a small patch of grass behind St Clement Danes right outside the Wig and Pen Club. Not sure if pen applied to journalists. TBH, in 15 years, I never saw anyone enter or leave that building. Maybe it was one of those Men in Black type portals.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
