If I can't get the label or its sticky glue off a jar so I can re-use it for my own purposes @pansyface it goes in the bottles box and, I assume, the glue and paper get incinerated when the glass is recycled.
@B3 - we have our windows open too but with the shutters down on ventilation mode. Possum gets bovver but not us and if we get bitten we just take an anti histamine and slap on some anti-itch cream.

I'm a fastidious recycler too. Paper removed from cans and bottles to be recycled or composted, plastics cleaned in our old hand washing water then crushed, plastic labels removed so they don't confuse the scanners. It was much easier before we had kids and we didn't actually produce much waste in the first place. I often question the point given how other people treat their recycling but Wales is doing really well now and loads of the recycling is done locally too. The only thing stopping us being the best recycling country in the world now is people not recycling as well as they could.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Don’t worry about paper labels on glass jars and bottles, it goes into a huge container filled with water, they soak off and rise to the top then it’s skimmed off.
