    Wonderful thread, Marlorena, I look forward to each days offering.

    Fascinating to see the colour shift on GdeF. I’m intrigued to see what mine will turn out like and how my heat affects the colour. I’m hoping for more apricot/yellow than pink, but so long as it does well I’ll be happy. I came across it’s sport ’Pink Ghislaine de Feligonde’ last year, but not sure if that’s for sale in the UK or how vigour compares with the original? Not much on HMF.

    @Nollie
    .thanks Nollie... I've long wanted the pink version and thought to import it at one time, but never did, thinking two might be too much for me to cope with.. I've not seen it listed in UK..

    ...I get the pink on some clusters overnight, I think due to cool temps, as they quickly change to apricot as soon as it warms up...

    I'm looking forward to Ghislaine this year, especially after your post. It will be her third year.

    Can I ask when  you would prune a repeat flowering rambler? I've never tried a rambler because of the "once flowering"  but that GdeF look as if it is worth the space.

    Thanks, interesting about the temperature/colour relationship, I shall have to wait and see. I would be tempted to order the pink one just to see what it’s like, but I’m running out of suitable soil pockets between the rocks and can’t face building more raised beds!

    I know what you mean Nollie, we never have enough space...  checking my photos I notice some clusters turn pink late evening about 9pm, and probably stay like that through the night..

    @Suesyn
    .. Hi.. the best time to prune any rambler is in the winter, we will then prune back all lateral growth to just a few inches of stubs.. leaving the main framework intact, unless it needs shortening for space reasons..  I find it enjoyable on a nice sunny winter's day and doesn't take too long.. it should be done by the end of February..

    'Ghislaine de Feligonde' is a repeat flowering Multiflora rambler, and related to the Hybrid Musk roses [which are also Multifloras].. if we don't deadhead these at midsummer after the first flush, repeat can be poor.. so it's important to find the time, when you notice the main flush is coming to an end, [July time] to get out there and snip off the spent clusters of flowers on each lateral, this will ensure it repeats well in Aug/Sept when it will give another good flush and continue until November, with some clusters continually in between..
    On a large 20 foot plant it can take a little time and I had to get the ladders out.. These days I would keep the rose more compact.

    Great maintenance info for GdF @Marlorena
    Presumably immediately following deadheading would be the time to then apply 2nd feed?
    Just another day at the plant...

    ..yes, 2nd feed any time from late June to late July...  we would also be tying in any new basals that have arisen, and GdeF does produce some vigorous ones at this time..

    Love the colour of Golden Beauty - I have a buttery yellow rose but it's just a bit too cool for the plants around it. That richer gold tone could be just the thing
