You'll want a very big hole and at least two beefy men!
I am going to have to ask our friend to pop over I think 😆 it does at least get delivered on wheels so at least getting it into the garden won’t be so bad

I can’t wait to see it. Makes my little five foot Rowan seem tiny.

Do you know exactly where it’s going? I moved mine three times today. Gotta be sure before I plant it.
I’ve got the rough position marked out, we want it to give us some privacy from a neighbours window so that makes the positioning a bit simpler at least!

Well done, enjoy it! (Go inside as well before planting to check that it obstructs your neighbour's view!)

Yes. That’s what I was going to say.

I went inside and sat on different parts of the sofa to make sure it was right (it wasn’t the first time).

I’m trying to obscure some roofs in the distance with mine. No privacy issues at all but it will create the illusion that there are no other buildings in the distance.

I will don’t worry! There’s going to be a lot of “just a little to the left” I’m sure, my husband will hate me 🤣

The peace of mind and relief will be well worth the cost @zugenie. You can’t put a price on happiness. Enjoy it.
    Thank you!

Thank you! Is it worth getting some  mycorrhizal fungi do you think?

The hole digging will be fun, at least the soil I have is pretty easy to dig!!

@zugenie , the benefits of mycorrhizal fungi, commonly bought as Rootgrow, are debatable, and have been debated here!  I've noticed it being used by some of the presenters on Gardeners' World and have used it myself thinking it's not going to do any harm and if it does any good, that's fine!

I'd apply bone meal to the surrounding area once planted as this encourages root growth.  Don't apply anything with a high nitrogen content at this stage because you want the roots to establish first so that they can support leafy growth later on.  Water is your key to success!

I’ve bought a little pouch as like you say, I figure it won’t do any harm! Yes watering the tree is going to be my garden priority this year! Everything I plant will be new so at least it’ll be easy to remember, need to get a new hose sprayer!

I have a multi-stem amelanchier.  When we planted it (probably 8-9’ tall) we cut the base off a 1litre plastic bottle and placed it upside down (cap removed) among the roots with the bottom of the bottle about 3” proud of the soil surface.
When we watered it for the first couple of years, and even now in a drought, I stick the hosepipe in the bottle for a while and this funnels water direct to the roots.
It’s doing well.  Hope yours is happy with you. They’re lovely trees. 😊
