Is there something wrong with my new felco secateurs?

Or do I need to loosen something?
They don't spring open after cutting. I've given them a good dose of WD40 and that works for a while. Then they go back to sticking.

    Is it just the blades gunking up over time with sap? Or the place where the two blades bolt together too tight, or rusty?

    Bolts do need adjusting on scissor action tools as if they're too tight it limits movement and too loose they don't cut properly.

    I'm a bit disappointed in them . I keep trying to use them the wrong way up but I suppose I'll get used to that. Before anyone says anything, I do hold them by the handles😉

    Yes, the lock is held in place with a small screw - I removed the screw and lock and put it somewhere safe (so never to be seen again!) you can see the hole where it was.
    It does mean they stay open all the time, but that doesn't bother me

    Just as a matter of interest, new parts can be purchased but expect most users know that. A gardening friend has had several new parts for theirs over the years and they have ended up like Triggers brush.

    Thanks @Pete.8. I realise  now that that is not the issue. It's definitely the spring. I'll try something more gunky  than WD 40. I also think my husband got me ones for left handed people which is why I keep using them upside down. Nearly £70 and he hasn't kept the receipt😕

    I've found some white lithium grease. No idea what it's really for but have given the secateurs a good dose!

    For a premium brand like this @B3 you should expect better and not have to remove a part to make them work satisfactorily.  They will have a guarantee, so to avoid further disappointment, I'd contact the retailer or Felco directly. They are a crucial part of your armoury!😊
