  • We keep saying we'd get a camping stove, as we're all electric. But not got round to it yet.
Safe journey home for your son and OH  @Chivetalking
We've had a flurry of snow.
  • Its really howling here now. The oak tree is swirling around and I have a couple of plastic bags from somewhere stuck on the branches.  Bit worried about next doors trampoline 😱
Meant to say @bluebellsintherain that have noticed how lots of things are going up in the SM pasta and rice in particular have gone up a lot. I also buy Orzo and yesterday it was £1.75  a packet, which is a small pkt. A few weeks ago it was £1.50, before Christmas it was £1.25. And it used to be 80p!
Do hope everyone is ok, I wouldn't want to be out in this, I'd get blown over.
  • Sorry forgot to say @Chivetalking glad your OH is safely  home. Safe journey home for your son too. Hopefully he won't have to wait too long before the wind dies down.

Good morning Hazel. Glad that you got to the Doc's safely. Chive I am pleased that your OH has got home. Your anxiety levels can just drop to 50% now until you hear from your son. Thanks for the cuppa Chive.
Handy brother has been on the phone and it is fairly horrible where he is now. Pouring down here. When I was out in the garden I noticed that there is no difference in the flooded bottom end of the garden. I might just have to look at plants that like living in a bog.

The wind is absolutely wild here now. Trees are being thrashed about and it is sleeting furiously. Before the storm got here I went out to the garage to get some alpine grit I have there as I had some 'living stones' to repot. This is definitely a job for doing in the kitchen as its freezing outside. Anyway, I spotted something rather strange in the grit. I removed it and found loads more:
I reckon a little mouse has been gleaning on next doors peanuts and stashing them in my garage. Why in the grit I have no idea. It definitely couldn't be squirrels as they are too big to sneak into the garage. Another one of Nature's mysteries.
It is getting scary outside now.

  • Afternoon All, it’s gusting hard now & raining, I hope all are indoors,
LB Sorry to hear the bottom of your garden is still water logged, is it just where it’s not had a chance to drain away with the deluge you’ve had? How odd finding all those peanuts hidden in the grit!,
I do like a kitcat Bluebells that will be most welcome, Alfie has a good comfy spot that’s just where Nel is too!,
Oh Janet hope you don’t see any more of that white stuff arriving,
SGL It’s dreadful watching the trees shaking, the poor birds they must be hanging on for dear life,
Hazel A side table is so useful, a good project for your OH to put together and you can give it a try after ☕️😉
Son has been in touch he is working inside a building and can stay put until the weather calms down…Phew 😅

That must be a welcome relief for you Chive - anxiety -0
I've just had to go out and rescue my general rubbish bin. I'd heard a loud noise so thought I'd better investigate. Luckily, the wind had only blown the lid open but not wishing to have another pond like the other week in my green bin I was glad I had gone out to investigate. It gave me chance to close it and wedge it securely. The wind nearly blew me off my feet.

Chive, I have had so much rain over the last two years that I think the water table has been affected. It is a bit dispiriting though, seeing water lying where there used to be plants. Good news is - the Claire Austin catalogue has just been delivered. My postie is still in shorts! Time for a read.
