    Morning all.

Giving a cat pills is very similar to giving a horse pills, apart from the towel! Horses have a natural gap in their teeth where the bit goes so you can insert a finger there to open the mouth. But most medicines are in powder to mix with apple juice or paste and you squirt them in using a big syringe.

The breakfast room curtain is up now. Looks cosier at night, no more big black window when I'm sitting at the lap top. Also it will help shade the bright morning sun so I can see my screen better and OH won't be dazzled in his place.

The big job today is stacking the logs. P. wants to borrow the horse trailer and it's behind the logs and they are blocking the entrance for my car. The logs are tipped out in the open barn and they need to be stacked around the edge.

Good morning Ante, SGL, Dove, Ruby and Busy. SGL, I have unopened boxes of chocs that will last me until next Christmas! Yes, indeed, Ruby, I am avoiding the scales too
Busy, I reckon if P wants to borrow the horse trailer HE can shift the logs for you!
I have decided to make the most of my dry and (very) windy weather to get Lily's TV on the go. One session complete and one more half through. Speaking of Lily, I have learned this morning that my new great niece has been named Lily Sofia/Sophia (not sure how they have elected to spell her second name). I thought it was really kind of my nephew and his wife to name her after my cat!

Please excuse me just dropping in (regular reader though), Debs why oh why do vets give tablets to cats when a long acting anti-bio will work just as well? Cats may take a day or so of being wrapped in a blanket etc but thereafter you may be spending hours trying to catch the cat in the first place! A one off quick jab, job done and peace reigns. Good luck Debs, hope Leo gets better very soon.

Good Morning Busy, Hazel & AnnaB,
Busy The curtains you’ve made sound very nice and will be a great help in the winter,
Hazel How is your OH feeling today, more comfortable I hope? Sons car is back to the garage tomorrow for the work to be done. Fortunately he has been getting a lift to work while it’s been off the road,
Anna That sounds like a much easier solution for administering antibiotics to cats doesn’t it, less stressful all round🙂
Phone screen repaired, so I can see clearly now 😅

LB That is a lovely name for your new great niece 🤗

Glad OH's mouth is so much better now, Hazel.

I have spent the last 1 1/2 hours stacking logs, that is as much as my back can take for today. Hope to finish tomorrow. The stove does keep the house nice and warm and I can cook on it too. It's also quite a bit cheaper than electricity or heating oil. Oil is very expensive in France, but I don't have a boiler here.

Nice to see you @AnnaB, indeed we do have fun with all of our furry friends when it comes to Vet visits and medication.
Chive I hadn't realised that your screen had been broken but that does explain the post about using your phone rather less. Glad it is all sorted now and I hope that your son's car is as good as new tomorrow. Sorry if I missed your post telling us about your phone.
T'Bird, I hope that you enjoyed the tennis. I watched the Ladies Final live and then the Beeb showed highlights later on today. Men's final tomorrow from 08:00.
Next week end though is the best! Six Nations starts whoop whoop! Really looking forward to that. Sis and brother-in-law are heading up to Scotland for the first England match.
Hazel, there was a short rain shower just after I finished putting the first lot of wet cloths out but I decided to leave them and I'm glad I did as I think the wind must have blown the rain clouds away and I managed to get everything dry. Once less job for tomoirrow!
Busy, well done on the log stacking but don't overdo it tomorrow.

  • LB I’m glad your enjoying the tennis.  I hope Lily is warm and snuggly with you.  Debs I hope you manage to give Leo his antibiotics.  Lily I still have some cherries in rum marzipan and chocolate left.  Ante I hope you catch up on your sleep and rest today.  Hazel it was a very windy night.  I hope you rescued all your clothes.  Chive I’m glad your phone screens been repaired.  I had a sleep this afternoon as awake early hours, feel better for it.  I’ve made tea.  The air fryers arrived as an emergency back up.  I need to wash the basket in soapy water before use.  Busy your curtains sound lovely and cosy.  Well done with the logs.

Thank you for the welcome. Yes I have two cats at the moment, the last of a long lifetime line of feline friends. These two are 16 and 17 years old now so I do speak from experience as a couple of years ago the younger cat had an op and after 2 days of tablet attempts it was back to the vet for a jab. Problem solved.
Hope those of you living in the upper part of the British Isles have battened down your hatches and will be staying safe and secluded. Good luck to you all.
  • Evening everyone 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️
Aww, no I haven't @Songbird-1 where do I find that button!
@Ladybird4 Such pretty names 🤗 Sophia/Sofia was going to be one of poppets names. But one of their friends had a little girl a few months before.
@Busy-Lizzie the curtains sound lovely and cosy.
@Chivetalking hope your sons car is repaired soon. Glad your phone screen is mended, although I didn't know you had broken it either 😉
@debs64 hope Leo has let you give him his antibiotics. Hope work went well today.
