Good morning Ante. I'm glad that the problems are sorted for you now - you can relax and plan some more for the new growing season. How are your plans for the vegetable farm going - hope that they weren't part of the problem. I am enjoying my tea too.

Good morning SGL and Ruby, you weren't there when I posted. Feeling dizzy is not a pleasant sensation. I've had a few days - after bad night's sleeping - when I have felt dizzy too. As we were walking in Ambleside we saw 4 Lightning aircraft fly over low. As I looked up to watch them I felt a bit wobbly. However, I loved seeing and hearing them. Took me right back to life in the RAF with Dad. We did pass a lady walking a beautiful old golden retriever and she was not happy at all with the noise and low flight - the lady that is. The dog was completely unperturbed. We had a little chat with her. She said that she wished they wouldn't fly so low. In all our February family holidays we got used to seeing jet fighters flying low up the valleys. I could watch them all day.

    Good morning everyone.

We got up rather late today. When I went down to make coffee to have in bed I pulled open the dining room curtains and there was a big molehill in the middle of the back lawn. Now there are two  OH called in a mole man about a year ago, now it seems they are back.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Bloomin' 'eck - that's the second post I've tried to make on this thread today and I've lost both of them - grrr.
Wasn't saying anything important other than I'm glad LB had a good day yesterday. I also love watching the big jets screaming down the valleys in the Lakes and Scotland. We live very close to RAF Wattisham and only about 25 miles from Lakenheath and Mildenhall, so we're very used to military aircraft overhead but they're usually just after takeoff or approaching for landing so going relatively slowly. Lots of helicopters thundering over very low which can fair shake the roof tiles.

Thank you all for saying my garden must be looking nice. It's not. Currently doing mainly winter tree and shrub pruning - of which there is a lot. At least it's only once a year. Done another hour and a half today. There's a tree, a buddleia, an eleagnus and half a dozen roses left to do. They don't take that long but the chopping and clearing up does! Then it's all about clearing, weeding, tidying and mulching. I've done a bit but lots to go at.

BL - so sorry to hear about the moles. I was quite alarmed to see how many very large mole hills there are in the untended 'paddock' (ie rough scrubby field) directly behind us. The landowner won't do anything about them. Have you tried popping a couple of huge cheap pickled onions down the burrows? Apparently they worked for Pansyface. Moles have a very sensitive nose and presumably the strong smell would be a deterrent. Cheaper than a mole catcher...

Chive - good luck with the arch☹️
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Chive I hope you’ll be able to repair the arch with ohs help.  Lily I’m glad the dizziness has gone. My foot has improved thank you so I don’t think it was broken.  It was the one tyre that rolled over it.  LB a very blustery day today blowing a hooley.  Hazel if you’re looking in I hope you’re okay.

RosieBB, I've just been outside to put some stuff away into the bins and the wind is now blowing a hooley here too. I'm inside and locked down for the evening. I got a text from my sister at 10:15 this morning. She was sitting in the train station in Bologna, waiting for a train to Rome. She and her OH are there for the 6 Nations. I have to admit to a twinge of jealousy because I bet its warmer in Italy.
