Sorry that you've had bad news @ante30 but some consolation that it could have been worse.

I've just had a good session in the garden and was only forced indoors by the growing gloom just before 5pm, which is a good sign of the days lengthening. The garden waste bin is now full to the brim awaiting this week's 'special' collection. They better turn up now! Only a handful of bulbs poking their heads up into the light so far but plenty of time for the 300+ others to get going.

The entrance pipe to the septic tank has been replaced and it's working! m0134 Hurray for the latest man! He dug a big hole and found the pipe. As the tank had sunk deeper into the clay the pipe had come apart at a join and the roots from the leylandii hedge had grown into it. He said the join should have be fixed more strongly, he's put cement around it. He said there may be problems again if the tank sinks any more but it could be in 1 - 10 years. It may have got worse because of the heavy rainfall early in the year last year when the rivers flooded.

This is a very old house so no building guarantee, but it was about £355, which is heaps better than it could have been. Thank you all for your support and listening ears.

What a nuisance about your son's car @Chivetalking, I hope it can be fixed and will pass next time.

@Ante30 that is sad news from your sister, but if they weren't suited then better they split before the wedding.

@Chivetalking so sorry to hear about your son's car, hopefully it will be fixed soon and not too expensive.
@Ante30 So very sorry to hear the news about your sister and her fiance. But better now if  they weren't suited to each other.  Try not too worry too much,  hopefully she will still come to see you in a few weeks.  Best wishes, take care of yourself too.
@Busy-Lizzie so pleased the man could fix everything for you. You must be so relieved, especially as its been done before you leave for Norfolk. And at a better price too.

Afternoon all. Chive, so sorry that your son's car failed its MOT. Were they major problems i.e. will the repairs cost lots? It is always a worrying time but at least it means that the car will be mended and road safe.
Ante, that is such sad news from your sister. As you say, it would be nice if she lived closer so that you could have a good talk with her. As Busy says, it is better that they find out now rather than after the wedding. Do the rest of your family know now? Hopefully your sister will still make the trip next month.
Biglad, it is lovely to see the bulbs starting to peek through the soil. Signs of good things to come.
Busy, such good news about the repair. Fingers crossed it lasts a good long time. I was wondering how your visitor might go on.
Hazel, you will have to post some pictures of your rocks once they are painted.

Evening everyone, it was a shock absorber needs replacing and a warning light on the dash board, if he can get the work done at the weekend the car will be retested next week all being well,
Busy Pleased to hear the man has been able to resolve the drainage for you, what a weight off your mind before you travel back to UK,
Ante Sorry to hear of the relationship ending between your sister and her fiancé, that must have come as a shock to you. I hope she will decide to come and stay in February just to have some time with you,
Biglad It is nice to see these signs of Spring coming, glad you’ve had a good session in the garden,
Hazel I’m pleased your granddaughters are well now. The painted stones sound a really nice thing to do, looking forward to seeing some pictures one day.
SGl I hope you’ve had a good day,
    Have a nice evening everyone.

Bussy, I'm glad that problem is finally fixed. You can travel back to UK without worries.

Biglad, it's nice that you had a day in the garden. I hope that all your bulbs will come out.

Thank you all for words of comfort. My neighbour invited me to have a coffee and we had a nice chat. Her son was in my class, and last year he went to the college. When someone in Croatia invites you on coffee , it's usually means that you will have some alcohol drink. You can drink coffee but no one do that, except in the morning 😁.

Gosh Hazel, that does sound intriguing. Do you know that you can get an app compass for your phone?
Ante, that sounds like a very nice invitation.  I hope that your chat helped you to unwind a bit. Was that your neighbour who had the problem with her roof?
Chive, I hope replacing the shock absorber doesn't break the bank.

LB It’s likely to be around £200 to cover the parts & labour, perhaps not as bad as it could have been under the circumstances, Goodnight to you,
Hazel I’m curious why a compass is needed, hope it all becomes clear as you prepare to start,
Ante Hope the chat with your neighbour has helped, the drink will have done some good too 😊
Wishing you all a good night, see you tomorrow.
