@Hostafan1 ... I had a splurge with some birthday money ... I'm pretty sure it was Sarah Raven ... I did try to strike some cuttings for you, but that was a dismal failure  :'(

@Uff. This is the Stainless Steel Aconitum,  it’s lovely it flowers very late in the year after most other plants have finished.
    This was end of September.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Delivered yesterday 5 pots of Iris tuberosa (18 plants in all) from Woottens.
Great service. Some may flower this year but most will take a year to get established.
    Beautiful flower.

Ah - the altitude would make a bit of difference too @Uff . Snow line is around 1000 feet. We're only about 400 feet here, and it's surprising how much of a change there can even be in temps when you go down to the main road.  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thanks Lyn. On the cover of the plant catalogue it shows it to be a pale blue with a deeper blue veining. Artistic license eh? See below. Bet you'll all guess where I placed my order now  :)

OH and Possum have finally accepted that plants are presents that make Obxx happy so we went shopping in late November for my birthday for shrubs but came home with only 4 I was after and half my budget spent so, having contacted a specialist nursery over at L'Absie, OH and I set off on Wednesday to collect Xmas prezzies and a bit more:

    Cotinus coggygria 'Golden Lady'
    Edgeworthia chrysantha
    Edgeworthia chrysantha 'Akebono'
1 each male and female "Argousier" aka Sea Buckthorn

Not cheap compared but a good size and shape and obviously well cared for.

Still looking for a particular holly and planning to sow other shrubs and perennials myself.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

    Yep, received this yesterday, Hayloft!

I went into Morrisons for bananas and came out with a cheap Scabious, still flowering. I'm telling myself that online orders not due to arrive for a couple of months dont strictly count as buying plants 😁
