    Yes, I succumbed.  I bought and planted in the mild weather over New Year so far a Rhododendron decorum, a bare-root rambling rose (Paul's Himalayan Musk), an ivy "Oro di Bogliasco" and some Liriope muscari.
    I have a dozen Lilium regale bulbs just arrived that I'll put in the ground this weekend.  And I have on order some bare-root lily-of-the-valley and Astrantia, and a load of Sparaxis bulbs that will go into pots.

    Again thank you AnniD that's very useful to know.

    Fairygirl will you advise on hardiness for salvias up here please and in particular bushy ones?
    Until 2 years ago I hadn't grown them up here. My first and only one was Hot Lips which I lost after the first winter but apparently, that should be hardy.

    Nothing ordered so far this year but there is going to be a little plant fair near us soon where I can buy some snowdrops in the green from a renowned snowdrop producer.

    The only reliably hardy one is S. caradonna @Uff
    Again - cold and wet are the biggest problems for most of them. You'd need to take cuttings or overwinter in a greenhouse. They don't survive here where I am.
    Although I wouldn't have that Hot Lips one in a gift anyway  ;)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Thanks, Fairygirl. Well if they won't survive where you are then they won't here, not a million miles as the crow flies and I only have a 4ft x 6ft greenhouse that is full of agapanthus in winter so not a lot of space for tender cuttings.

    I don't know exactly whereabouts you are @Uff, but south west Scotland tends to be a bit milder and drier than here. I still wouldn't risk it though   :)

    I'm an hour north of the coast and to make it worse I live more or less on the snow line up a hill so the weather here will be similar to yours.

    I may need an intervention-- have a hard time passing up a bargain. I bought mix of 10 plants from secret garden when they had their free postage offer which should arrive soon, and just preordered a few trays from Brookside for spring delivery (poppies, snapdragons and lavender) that should sell well in our spring plant sale.

    @Dovefromabove
    Can I ask where you bought Dahlia Waltzing Mathilda last year?
    Devon.
