Yeh, I'll probably wait a couple of days , although there's snow forecast for Friday, so I'll just play it by ear.
We had thunder at the back of 6 this morning - did you have that? It's what woke me, although it had been wet and wild through the night anyway.

Rather windy here today, but evidently nothing compared with what’s due on Friday. Got a Waitrose delivery this evening, but I will need to pop into a store for milk and vegetables, maybe tomorrow morning. Ive spent part of the morning in the loft, while OH passes cables up to me, tidying up the leads from the outside cameras which have been snaking across the floor for months. Don’t like it up there, low headroom, cobwebs and dead woodlice ( presumably live ones loitering out of sight) I’ve taken two paracetamol as a precaution against the inevitable backache I will have later!
  • Glad to hear you're well prepared @Uff. Probably shouldn't admit this but we've had quite a pleasant morning weather wise,  going downhill fast again now, but I know we won't have it anywhere near as severe as some folks.

Same here @Allotment Boy ... washing (including woollies) nearly dry on the line ... first time I've hung any out this year ... sunny spells and blustery ... I don't s'pose we'll be affected much.  Keep those hatches well battened down the rest of you ...

I think it's starting here. Horizontal rain, very windy. I feel so sorry for people that have to be out at the moment.

Apart from about an hour earlier this morning, the rain's never really stopped since last night here @Uff, but you're in the balmy south  :D

I don't think my walking shoes are going to dry out any time soon either, and I was only out for just over an hour. The joys. The past few weeks have certainly made up for all the dry weather last year. Our rainfall averages will be back to normal  ;)

Dove, my friend in Suffolk said she's only managed to get her washing out once this year. I must admit I check the forecast daily, and wash according. Got it all dried last week outside.

The weather map is showing 100mph winds heading this way on Friday morning. So much for my day off :|  The roofer who promised to come and fix my roof after Xmas never got back to me so I'm just hoping nothing comes loose. I might move the car over the road just in case.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

The wind speeds keep changing for here @wild edges. We still have an amber warning for tonight/tomorrow, but the last time I looked the speeds were forecast as 60-ish, which wouldn't constitute amber. It would just be yellow. Not long ago, the east side of Scotland had an amber wind warning, yet our wind speeds were much higher on this side, and we had a yellow. Makes no sense.
I think the problem is that it's almost impossible for them to be accurate with any storm, and it's probably wise if they err on the side of caution. I don't take too much notice of these warnings now, although I'm obviously not going to do anything reckless. It's windy here so much of the time that you don't really notice - until it isn't windy.  ;)

I think moving the car might be a good idea. Is your insurance up to date?   :D

  • Our pleasant morning in the garden was cut short by a neighbour a few doors down and over the back with a bonfire AND I could smell burning plastic 🤬
The wet has started again now, but not bad compared to up North.
