Just had friends staying for 5 days and it's been wonderful - great fun, great chat and great weather too. Now I need to catch up witha few jobs and then I can sit and binge watch GW, SCD and a few other things.

I can now say I have been to Weston Super Mare - maybe those who know it can say if that, per se, is a reason to be cheerful. A few moments ago I had an email from the Blood Donation Service to say my recent armful has gone to Weston General Hospital. Isn’t it good that they keep donors updated?
We only live about an hour's drive from Weston-Super-Mare and I hadn't been there until about 5 years ago. Some pleasant walks along the front and as it wasn't school holidays it wasn't too busy either. Not as run down as some seaside places such as Paignton which was horrible.
Weston-Super-Mare had to count as seaside when I was a child as it was the nearest coast. I have to say that it's thick black mud in which you sank up to your knees was definitely not the same as lovely white sand!
MY RTBC today is that I've enjoyed a visit from my son. He crept in very quietly after we'd gone to bed (having been to a rugby match), got up very late as he was rather hungover and has just left. Every moment with him though is precious to me.
Amazing but slightly creepy sunset. Leaden sky . Thunderstorm passing through .The orange from the setting sun made the autumn leaves vivid. A rainbow and absolute silence. Weird but beautiful. My camera wasn't up to it so I just looked out the window and enjoyed the moment. I have stored the image in my brain rather than the cloud.
@steveTu, I just had to respond to your post. Glad you enjoyed the bonfire in Heathfield. My grandchildren (and small g/g/child) were there having fun as well. Heathfield has a special place in my heart as we first moved to Sussex (a farm in Punnetts Town) back in the late 60's. We then spent many years in the Horam area before finally moving to Wales in 2006. My late Mum lived in Springwood road and spent 30 years helping at the Oxfam shop. Two of the g/children still live in Heathfield itself, g/son went to Five Ashes school as a tiddler and there was a certain little girl there at the same time. They never saw each other again until a couple of years ago when they accidently met. Now in their early 30's, a month ago they got engaged! Life is strange sometimes isn't it? Sorry to take up posting space folks - well I suppose it is a good reason to be cheerful.

I haven't had it on at all this year yet. Long may this mild weather continue.

I take the view that moles have been here much longer than I have and I am trespassing on their land. I prefer coexistence to intervention.
