I mean that I didn't water it during the summer, a few plants suffered from my ignorance unfortunately. My vinca illumination stopped flowering very early on, my magnolia looked burnt etc.
Not all plants flower for months. Many have a season to flower, then nothing...eg daffodils/Magnolia etc.
Magnolia flowers then flowers die, petals go brown. If leaves are burnt it needs water or shelter from wind.
The vinca was supposed to flower for a lot longer, at one point the leaves drooped quite a bit. The magnolia flowered beautifully, but later in the summer the foliage looked burnt because I hadn't watered it. I've learned SO much since inheriting the garden in March, so it's lucky we get a new opportunity each year
I have never tried to grow any Actinidia. I do know to get the kiwi fruits you need a plant that is male, to pollinate a female plant. This link shows the difference between male and female flowers.
Kiwi jenny is a proper kiwi, as in furry little brown fruit. The species that the op has is completely different really and produces hairless fruits. They are quite a popular odd fruit to grow and hayloft have been selling mixed cultivars (that can cross pollinate) for a couple of years.
I'm fairly sure at least one of these species (issai i think) originated in siberia, showing how cold hardy they can be. I have had these for a few years and the fruits are much smaller than a kiwi but pretty much a smaller, bite size, mimic.
