Afternoon all. I had a good morning in the garden - removing more ivy and a long natter with my neighbour who was continuing work on the fencing. After a couple of hours my feet were like blocks of ice so I decided to call it a day on the gardening front and retired inside. The green bin is now filled to bursting though neighbour takes all the ivy he removes to the tip in one of those big sand delivery bags. The little birds have been quite excited at the activity diving into the removed ivy to grab all the insects. I though that Lily might have been a bit perturbed by the chainsaw noise but she never batted an eyelid.
Ante, how is the weather? Does it look as if it will be better tomorrow? Please take care driving to the Vet's with Rose, that is a long drive if the conditions are bad.
Busy, I hope that your visit helped to cheer your daughter up a little.

    Afternoon everyone.

LB, the weather improves. It's still very cold, but wind is almost gone. I think that it will be able to drive tomorrow. Rose must go to neuter( I thinh that I spell it right), and she must stay at vet's one day, so I'll go back at fryday to collect her.

As I told before, it's much better out, but still very cold and with ice and snow on the ground. At least we will sleep better tonight.

Ante, you did spell it right. Poor little Rose, but it is the very best thing for her. She will be so happy to see you on Friday and to get back home. Its nice that the wind has dropped. I am not keen when it is really windy weather as I can hear the tiles on my roof rattling. How is your neighbour with the repaired roof by the way? Is everything fine with her now?

  • Ante I hope Roses op will pass quickly and soon back home. ย We donโ€™t like our pets to be away from us. ย Take care on your journey. ย I have managed to catch up on sleep and Alfie has been enjoying a restful day. ย LB youโ€™ll be glad to be back in the warmth, have a relaxing evening.

Evening all. I'm back from my daughter's. We had lunch together and a good chat, then we painted upstairs. I painted 2 doors and daughter painted a wall. There is quite a bit of work to do in her old farmhouse and now that her OH has left she's doing it on her own the weeks that he has their children. She teaches English at a local school but she has Wednesdays off. French schools shut on Wednesday afternoons, but the days are longer than in England.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

LB, my neighbour with new roof is fine and new roof endured this high wind. On the other side, wind took down chimney of my other neighbour. Quite scary must admit. One piece of his chimny is near my wall in the garden.

Rosie, I'm glad that you and Alfie had a restful day.

Gosh Ante, that was a narrow escape for you but I feel sorry for the neighbour whose chimney collapsed. Your weather sounds horrible for people with building damage.
Hazel, I would give the clemmies some time yet as it is still only the beginning of January.

  • Evening all, turned out to be a sunny day and not too chilly. Garden is far too wet to get out and do anything. So we went for a walk instead. Kept to the pathway along by the woodland and then home for tea and biscuits. Watched a film with Anthony Hopkins in......Fracture..... on Netflixย ย
@Ante30 hope Ross's ok goes ok. Take care on the journey, hope the weather improves.ย
    @bluebellsintherain glad you had a restful day.ย
@Ladybird4 you did a lot of gardening, you'll sleep well tonight.
@Busy-Lizzie 2 doors in one day, that's a lot of painting. I'm sure your daughter was very grateful of your help and really enjoyed spending the day with you. Hope your tummy is much better now.ย
@Songbird-1 bit early for clematis to have new shoots, ๐Ÿคž they will survive.ย
    OH is watching footie @Biglad
Think I might do Suduku for awhileย  I got a new book from Santa ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • I'll wish you lovely people a goodnight, sweet dreams.

    Evening all,

I'm also watching the football but without a great deal of enthusiasm - not really fussed who wins. I'm distracting myself with other small tasks on the laptop.
