I don't question the benefits of having a system of entirely renewable energy, but do question the practicality.  Today, where I live, there is no wind and it is heavily overcast - we had fog earlier. Those conditions would greatly reduce the amount of energy from wind and solar.  The coldest winter conditions often happen when there is no wind too, so what is going to generate the power required?

Battery storage will be the solution when wind and solar are offline.

That's gonna need a lot of batteries to power the whole country.

I just don't know what to say to such a statement other than: have a nice xmas and a happy new year.

  • OH is on day 6 after a positive PCR test so could try the early release LFT strategy. His LFT today was clear until about 25 minutes in when the faintest of faint lines appeared. Another day in isolation for him then!
  • Oh ‘eck @Singing Gardener … what a PITA … but you’ve not caught it from him?  That’s a Reason to be Cheerful 😀

  • Negative daily tests for me so far @Dovefromabove but then I had Covid back in October and am also triple jabbed So I hope I have strong immunity!
