Brexit - we are where we are.  Stop whinging about that and get on with life. Government needs to get on with sorting out the problems.  Not easy when dealing with the French who only ever implement rules which suit them.  If the UK had done the same thing maybe Brexit wouldn't have been viewed as necessary by more than 50% of the voting population.
Sorry @KT53 but the above sounds rather like a Brexit whinge to me  :D
Besides, isn't that what the Curmudgeon's Corner thread is for ?  A good whinge every now and then - whatever it is about - never does much harm ;)

Quite a few EU countries only implement the rules which suit them and also blame the less popular ones on the EU rather than themselves, no matter whose idea it really was.   Many of them have a history of living under the rule of other countries for centuries or decades and that gives a whole different mindset to following rules - one reason why tax evasion is a national pastime in some countries.

France has a far stronger sense of social and communal responsibility at regional and national level and is very good at protecting its citizens' interests, especially where they coincide with national economic interests and/or can divert attention from other less popular government policies.

It will be interesting to see how the EU funds itself now that the UK isn't subsidising many of the other countries.

It'll be interesting to see how Cornwall and Wales fund themselves now the EU isn't subsidising them.

They'll manage - and don't forget how many UK regions, habitually neglected by London-centric policies, received little or no UK funding for infrastructure and social projects.

Liverpool didn't.  The Liverpool echo published an article during the referendum  campaigns asking what the EU had done for Liverpool and then listed all the projects it had funded.  They voted remain.

Wales was a net recipient of EU money.
    They voted leave.
Almost all infrastructure improvements in Cornwall were EU funded.

@philippasmith2. Up until the last couple of days, in order to keep the peace, c*ts and Br***t have been banned on this thread and the discussion of b* ke related matters is also frowned upon. It has worked so far.

Just had a surreal three days with the in laws.  Both of them have these enclosed log burner type fires.  We got on to the subject of drying clothes in the house (damp corners + mould) versus using a tumble dryer.(not very eco friendly/uses electric etc) I chuck the fluff out of my tumble dryer, despite it being 99% cotton. At a push I'd throw it in the compost bin.  It can apparently be made into fire lighters  with a bit of effort.  They asked me if I wanted an address I could post it to , so that it could be recycled.   Errm  No ta .
