I've topped up the garden waste bin this morning. Last collection of the year today - it feels like another sign that it's time to batten down the hatches and hibernate for 3 months! Although the weather is calm and mild today - lovely for a gentle potter for an out-of-work old chap
Had a text cancelling my next blood donation appointment earlier. No reason given which is exactly what happened in September. I'll start getting texts and e-mails saying how much they need my blood now and to book an appointment. It would be useful if they gave an explanation as I'm starting to get a bit naffed off with the entire process. Their Covid protocols have been terrible from the start of the pandemic and how much effort do I really want to make so that somebody can stab my arm every 12 weeks
Oh dear - I'm sounding a bit grumpy today, aren't I
Hello folks .... hope everyone's well, or at least improving ...
I've done a bit of h'wk, a load of laundry and tidying sweeping sort of stuff, and made a huge cauliflower cheese to have with jacket potatoes for supper ... the intention is that there'll be enough cauli cheese left to have with baked cod on Friday .... but the best laid plans of mice and men etc ... and we do love cauliflower cheese .......... 🍽
@WonkyWomble has requested a warm woolly Mobius scarf ... I've found three hanks of chunky wool in my stash so that's the rest of the day sorted ... once I've had some lunch ... ...

Hello everyone. It's grey and murky here and looks colder than it actually is. Should go outside and fill the garden waste bin ready for collection tomorrow - but I have my enthusiasm for that firmly under control at the moment. Keep finding lots of displacement activities - not too much longer and it will simply be too dark to do anything (with a bit of luck😁)
Hazel - hope the PCR test comes back negative. It took about 10 days for my cold to actually 'come out'. Before that was just a-cough-cough-coughing and I seriously considered booking a PCR test even though I'd had 2 negative lateral flow tests.
Then one day I woke up and my nose started to stream non-stop. It was just like somebody had turned on the tap - but at least I then knew it really was just a cold.
Chive - sounds a lot like what you've got. Keep warm and I hope you feel much better soon.
LB - I hope this bungalow is what your brother has been looking for. I remember you saying he wanted to move so it will be good if he likes it.
Right - next displacement activity - write a birthday card. That could wait until after dark but....😉

Good afternoon everyone. I have had an exciting day so far. Set off to meet up with handy brother but three lanes on the east bound M62 were closed because there had been a police incident (learned later that a lorry driver had been killed in a crash) so I had to re-route my journey.
Met up with brother, parked my car up and then we went in his to the Close where the bungalow was situated. I fell in love with the place as soon as I saw it! There was a man working on the patio area outside so I went and said hello to him and shortly after that the estate agent arrived. She was a lovely, friendly person and it turned out that she knew some of handy brother's friends and she had been several times to see the pantomimes that brother had been in. Small world!
We went inside and honestly it was like a new build. New windows, new doors, new floors, all re-wired and plastered. New kitchen and bathroom (in 'on trend' grey). I had serious socket envy as every room was supplied with loads of them. I explored the kitchen, whilst brother was chatting with the estate agent. All the brand new appliances, which come with the bungalow were set into cupboards, fridge, freezer, dish washer and washing machine. The cooker was set in a large floor to ceiling tower fitment with an electric hob set into a work surface. Can you tell I've got green eyes? (Ante - means jealous!) I was completely knocked out by it.
There were neat gardens to front and rear and a large concrete standing where a garage had been. We learned it had been taken down as it was asbestos. Great base for a big shed!
Anyway, brother made arrangements to visit the estate agent tomorrow once he had had a chance to take everything in. We went to the local coffee (and cake!) shop on the square nearby and had a good chat. Handy brother was as besotted as I was with the place and told me that he really wanted it. We then went our separate ways and I headed for home.
Got a phone call from brother, the estate agent had been on to the vendor - who it turns out must be a devotee of Homes Under The Hammer as he buys and does up property to sell on! She had asked him what he was hoping to get for the bungalow and believe it or not, it was the figure that brother was going to offer tomorrow. Estate agent rang vendor, vendor accepted brother's off so the bungalow is now his - bar the paperwork etc.
Sorry this has been such a long post but, as you can guess, I'm very excited and pleased for him.

Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
That @Biglad is such a hard taskmaster☹️ - a real Mr Whiplash. I didn't dare disobey him so I've been a good girl and filled the bin😇 - and it was raining (well - fine drizzle!).
LB - hurrah! what great news for your brother. Are you thinking about gazumping him???🤣
I have no idea what a Moebius scarf is - I shall go and Google.
Cauli cheese Dove - yummity yum yum. We had it with gammon at the weekend😋

Aaah! all is revealed. I've always called those "infinity scarves" - very nice. Big fan of scarves of all types here. Not least because they always fit when I try them on😁

It looks cold and grey outside. I must write my Christmas letter and order some presents for the grandchildren.
