Although it inspired my interest in Choisya @Ladybird4, I can't remember exactly which variety you have (yet another senior moment :o ). Was it Ternata? This one is on the radar for my next visit to the local GC.

Good morning SGL, Busy, Biglad Ruby and Dove. Busy, visions of your Great Uncle George had me in fits laughing. It reminder me of a rather plump relative of mine sitting down in a deck chair and the fabric just splitting under his weight. The outcome being his bum hit the ground and he was trapped inside the wooden frame of the deck chair. It was hysterical and took us some time to extricate him. I've never trusted deck chairs since!
Biglad I take it you are driving to see your rellies as for one fleeting moment I thought you may be running! That is the correct choisya by the way. Its full moniker is Choisya ternata 'Sundance'.
Good luck with the loo seat wrangling Hazel.

Thanks @Ladybird4 - I think I may be starting to build a collection of them :o

That definitely would be a tad too far on foot - I'm not Kevin Sinfield you know :D

Morning all - wet and windy here - and that just my OH. Ha ha - the old ones are the best - just like my OH....

LB - do you have to venture onto the M6 to get to Canasta. If so I might give it a miss - Friday afternoon on the M6 in stormy weather do not a good combination make.

@Dovefromabove - re the loo story - it's entirely possible that you know my brother. Even more likely you'll have met my sister-in-law (she was a practice nurse in Eaton until about 3 years ago).
However, the most probable explanation is that I've told you the story before (perhaps on one of our outings). I'm getting old so I often repeat myself these days LOL🤣

@Biglad - if you're 'collecting' choisyas I would recommend adding Choisya × dewitteana White Dazzler to your collection. Good if you have a more confined spot to fill. It is much more compact than the ternatas with finely cut foliage and looks somehow more elegant. In late spring it's smothered in white flowers (like the larger ternatas) but mine has kept flowers going throughout the rest of the year too (it still has quite a loss of blossom on it now). My Ternatas do repeat flower but not as much as the White Dazzler.
Just an idea to spend more of your money🙂

@Songbird-1 Good luck wrestling the loo seat! FIL broke the soft close function on one of ours by repeatedly forcing it closed. Looked to find similar to replace it. Who knew there were so many shapes, positions for fixings, shades of white etc etc?
Gave up in the end so it's now a normal 'don't just drop it' closing seat.

Bit of online Xmas shopping today I think....

Thanks @Topbird - fanning the flames of my new-found addiction in revenge for cracking the whip on the bin-filling episode, eh? I see your game :D

  • Busy I love your story of Great Uncle George.  We had Great Aunt Rose and she ended up in a similar pickle.  LB I wish you and Lily a good day too.  I’ve emptied another shelf on the landing for mum, lunch then back home to do the windowsills as I had a collection of cat litter decorating them.  Alfie likes to leave a trail but he’s well loved.  I did manage to get diddle diddle dee tea of 420 for £5 from sm the other day, nice tea too.  Had to give it a shove to wheel it back in the trolley.  Lily enjoy your shopping with dil.  I hope you get something nice.  Good to hear fellow Pilates zoomers are a friendly lot.  Biglad overtime it sounds like you’ve had some good purchases for your garden.  Enjoy your rellies visit.  Stay safe.  Hazel, I know, I must do my wrapping soon.

Afternoon all. I didn't go to Canasta today as at the last minute I got an email from the messenger of the Gods to say they were delivering a package - at the time I would have normally had a fistful of cards. I wasn't too worried though as the wind and rain were quite off putting. T'Bird, thanks goodness I do not have to go on Madam-6 to get to Canasta. I have driven on there on a Friday and its horrendous. Speaking of horrendous, is any driver like me experiencing real difficulties with the Winter sun (when we actually see it!) It can be quite blinding at times.

Oh Hazel 🤣 - you learn sooooo much by trying to DIY and not getting it quite right. Been there so many times!

Did you tell us why you felt the need to replace the old seat? If you know which model / make of loo it is you might be able to get a replacement seat direct from the manufacturer.

That would have been our last resort but (at £60 for a 'proper' replacement seat 🤨) we decided the soft-close function was not that important!

PS @bluebellsinthewild I still haven't worked out what diddle diddle dee tea is. Am I being very thick?? (Don't give me an honest answer please).

PPS LB - think you did right to stay at home - the weather has been vile here.

OH hates driving with the sun in his eyes too, LB. I can’t drive his car here as, since Brexit, the insurance doesn’t want to include me any more with my French licence.

The weather has been pretty vile here to but the rain did stop for me to go for a walk this afternoon.
