What BIL found particularly hard, was having no internet access made finding anything out really difficult.
I think there must be a real chance, that in rural areas of NE Scotland people will die because of this. I know MIL would not have coped without him getting up there. It has been 4C in her bedroom for the last 48 hours.

Oh my goodness!!  @punkdoc  4°C in her bedroom!!  Too cold for an elderly person to even try and get warm.  Hooray to your BIL for coming to her rescue.  Your fears are real when you speak about others who don't have access to family nearby.  @raisingirl came to the rescue, albeit late but now most people will have this number.  I don't think we have seen the last of the bad weather.
I am glad you keep us up to date.  Have a pleasant evening.

That sounds hideous @Punkdoc. I've just remembered somewhere I have something called HotHands I think, kind of small gel pads you activate just by holding them in your hands. A small comfort, non electric heat. I think they are used by hikers and skiers so presumably can be ordered from outdoor shops?

Have to say BIL has been a bit of a hero, he also went round nearby houses seeing if anyone needed help, although as he said, there wasn't much he could actually do.

    Evening folks.

Had a bit of a day in work, then got to car and was blocked in, and now
just cut my foot on cupboard door in bathroom. Having said that, I’d do it all again rather than hear someone has had 2 days in a freezing cold house. Very pleased MIL is sorted punk.

    Take care you lot.

  • Evening all,

Glad to hear your MIL is now ok @punkdoc, and what a good chap your BIL sounds like.

We've had snow too, not a lot but very cold. Our Christmas market went really well, but those poor traders had a very long cold day. Not sure I could have done it. Snow made it very festive though.

I am festively getting through my Christmas Baking orders too, almost as many orders as last year, which I'm surprised at, in lockdown last year so obviously people couldn't travel to the UK to get Xmas Puddings and Mincemeat. Many orders are from people who ordered last year so that's a pleasing endorsement. A lot of French have bought Puddings too this year out of the tearoom, from the cake table, we seem to be convincing them it's tasty. 😅

Just some of the lovely handmade things at our Craft Market.

Hope everyone is keeping well and warm. Seems winter has come very early this year.
