our road is just big enough for 2 cars, lorries, drive on the verge and ruin it. The majority of the folk in the houses, have 4 vehicles,so they park out side ours, because they can't be bothered to move the vehicles in and out

Ring the fire brigade (I don't mean dial 999!). Tell them you're concerned that access in the event of a fire would be restricted  by parked cars.
"Back in the day" they'd have sent an appliance, with the siren wailing to make people shift them.
But not so sure now, They might say that such action could be deemed discrimination against something or other.

Doghouse, that's our drive this side of the picture
We are the first place past the double yellow lines,as is the house opposite, doesn't stop folk parking
For some strange reason people don't park in the shops car park even when there's plenty of spaces
The houses you've got mum,dad 2 kids now with a car,the "work' vehicles as well
Making it a PITA to either reverse my estate in,or out
.So please tell Alan Titchmarch we had no choice but to pave

I've no time for, "The Perennial Plant Potter."

Hey! it's your house, do what you like, too many people are quick to tell you what to do.

I always reverse in, "I've the scars to prove it"

What slightly irritated me,  is although I don't mind the people across the road parking their second car "two wheels" up outside their house, yesterday morning there was a car parked the same  way outside our house, making it really difficult to get out of our drive and turn right past them. As it was only 8.00am and I was off to play golf, I didn't think going to "bang on a few doors" would be considered reasonable at that time of the morning. Of course, the second car was gone when I came home.
  • Truely stunning front garden there Victor. What are the yellow daisies in the top picture and the pink spires in the bottom picture? I need some of those in my garden next year.

Thanks very much @Sendmesun & @Dovefromabove. The yellow daisies are Anthemis tinctoria 'E.C.Buxton' & the pinky purple spires are Veronica 'purpleicious'. Both most happy on well drained soil, which we have at the front but not at the back where we have heavy clay. For me though the thing that has made the most difference at the front are the tall grasses.
