Just back from a late SM shop. They are doing a major refurb on the store I normally use and they move lots of stuff around every night to work in different areas. Everything is (temporarily) split up all over the shop and just shoved where there's a space. So things like cake, biscuits, sliced bread and fresh bakery are in 4 different locations instead of all together. Every shopping trip is like a treasure hunt with lots of puzzled shoppers stood around saying "Where's ----- gone?"

Even worse you ask a member of staff and they confidently lead you off to a corner only to find the required item isn't there today. Fortunately, they're lovely staff and most of the customers are nice people so everyone is treating it all as a big joke. 4 weeks down - 4 weeks to go...

On the plus side - 25% off 6 or more bottles of vino so the wine rack is full again🙃

Hazel - sorting out my dad's loft was good 'fun' - over 40 years of accumulated 'stuff'. One of the first jobs MIL tackled after FIL died was getting rid of stuff. He was a hoarder - she isn't. Nowt but 2 suitcases too large to go in any cupboards in her loft now.

There is a worryingly large collection of gadget boxes in our loft - you know - keep the box just in case we need to send the gadget back....

Rosie BB - enjoy your bread and pate - one of my favourite suppers - especially with some nice crunchy cornichons.

Dove - hope you're feeling a bit better.

BL - sorry to hear about your daughter - you must be very worried about her.

    Good evening to all.
Well, I'm almost ready for bed. We came late from walk and first hour were just sitting near fire. Sorry to say LB but I saw those small, white stuff falling from above. Just a few came with high wind. We will sleep well, I think.
Now tea and must see if something are on tv worth to watch.

    Ooops sorry Biglad
T'Bird, my 'sco is like that which does make shopping a pleasure. Lovely staff and friendly shoppers. Bargain vino there! My Bestie and I LOVE cornichons and we can easily munch our way through a whole jar.
When I moved into this house there was only one thing left behind in the loft - a jaunty hat with a short feather in the band around it. It made me think of Switzerland. I can quite understand why it got left behind.
Chive, Jack is still struggling with his shingles but his daughter went out to do some shopping today. She did admit to her legs feeling tired which is only to be expected having been inactive for a fortnight but she has now turned the corner.
    Just for you Ante:

  • Chive I’m glad you had a successful trip picking up brother’s car.  I used to get a sausage and mustard roll from the bakery and enjoy it by the river.  A great view of the gardens.  My dress arrived yesterday and I wore it today with my boots, super comfy Pondpepper dress.  Ante so good to have a cosy fire, very homely.  I miss mine but I have warm reds and beige and gold making my home look cosy.  Hazel you’ve had a productive day today.  As LB says very wise removing the water tank and good to see what’s hidden up there.  Hooray the binmen arrived a day early, after missing last week.  Topbird it’s a mystery shop for you at the moment requiring all the aisles to be looked at.  I’m glad you found a wine bargain, hic!  LB Alfie is still having a sensitive throat and I need to massage it for him for quite some while.  Glad you enjoyed the window view of the fireworks.  Busy it sounds like you have a good community enjoying the display.  Dove I’m sorry you’re not feeling too good.  Have something warming and plenty of drinks, keep warm.

LB, love your cartoon, but can't agree with it. I'm so glad that Jack's daughter is better, and hope so that he soon will be well.

I'm searching on internet new persimmon tree which I want to buy. Maybe I add some other things in the basket.

Here are some photos of Firework Night in our village in Norfolk. Two villages share the village hall which is in a field in the middle of farmland between the villages so I don't think it's too upsetting for pets.

It was a super display, but photos don't really show it how it was. There was a huge bonfire, villagers have been adding stuff all through October, and a hog roast. Refreshments were served in the village hall. Luckily OH and I found a couple of chairs, not too close to anyone. I was a bit surprised at the lack of masks, in France they would have been obligatory indoors, also the Covid Vaccination Pass.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Oh heck I've just woken up on sofa. Must have been asleep for over an hour.
Did watch Strictly @Ladybird4 ........i always record it so I can whizz through some bits. Wasn't AJ brilliant!  Loved Rose too.

So sorry have read back, but really dozey and think I should go to bed, before I wake up too much.
Night night everyone, do hope we all get a good nights sleep..... or as @Songbird-1 said some rest.
See you all in the morning.
  • LB Good to hear that Jacks daughter is well enough to get out again, though it’s taken it’s toll on her energy. I hope Jack starts to improve soon.
Ante Hope you find what you are looking for the Persimmon tree,
Topbird That does sound like a challenge, I always write my list in the order of the aisles. Liking the sound of 25% on 6 or more bottles of wine, forget the rest of the shopping!
Bluebells I’m pleased you are finding the new dress comfortable with your boots, sounds very nice together,
Busy Great pictures of the bonfire night, glad you both enjoyed it,
Rubee Good to hear your OH is rallying,
Hazel This course is for 2 years so he has only just started, but it sounds promising they are investing a lot into his training.
SGL Hope you can return to a decent slumber in the comfort of your bed,
Goodnight everyone, here’s hoping we all sleep well.
