We had plenty of rain this summer in Norfolk. Everything flowered better last year when we had sun. I think the box hedge has blight.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Chive - there are some very very picturesque villages in Essex🙂. Great history too.

BL - I finally finished digging out 40m of dwarf box hedging last week. It was full of blight and the combination of that and the munchings of the box caterpillar had left it looking a right mess. There are some small stretches of hedge and 5 large box balls elsewhere in the garden which are ok. I'm keeping fingers crossed that removing the infected plants will give the remaining plants a chance to thrive.

Hope everyone sleeps well. I should go to bed NOW but I've got a programme on playing hits from 1971 and I'm having a right sing-a-long. I was 13 going on 14 in 1971 so the Hit Parade was about the most important thing in my life (along with reading Cathy & Clare in Jackie magazine...) so I know ALL the words to ALL the songs. OH has left the room because his ears are bleeding...😁
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Hazel at the surgery attending for my booster they weren’t noting it down on the card.  Sorry to hear you need to attend again.  I hope things will be more organised.  Sorry to hear about your dad when he fell.  It must have been a shock.  LB the pumpkin looks worse for wear after Halloween.  Biglad your dahlia looks lovely.  Chive it is good to gain an hour in winter, although not to lose one in another season.  I was in my late teens when I stayed in Whitham.  Ante the thought of mulled wine certainly does make you think of the season.  I’m glad you enjoyed your time with your cousin.  Topbird it sounds like you had a lovely trip out.  I’m glad you had a good day.  Busy I do hope your oh receives some positive news.  Topbird I remember getting the Jackie magazine.  I’m glad you had a good sing a long.  Night night everyone.
  • Morning everyone,
Slept much better, but still woke up just before 6.....which in my head is just before 7 🤦🏻‍♀️
Sorry at @Biglad didn't see your Dahlia  yesterday, must the gremlins on here again. It's a beautiful colour,  very Christmassy.......  oops sorry 😉
Have come downstairs for a cup of tea, see you all later.
  • Good morning Lily and all to follow.  I’ve just popped the heating on.  Lily I’m glad you slept better. Time for tea.

A very good morning RosieBB and SGL and all to arrive later. T'Bird, I do try to blow the rain clouds across to your area - I obviously failed - sorry! In my travels around the UK I never fail to be amazed at the most fabulous countryside we are blessed with. The history, the marvellous buildings that have lasted much longer than some of the modern monstrosities that have been built more recently ever will. I count myself lucky (despite all the moaning and whingeing) to live here. Well done on removing the box - a marathon task and fingers crossed that your other box plants stay protected. Sorry to hear that the dreaded box blight is affecting your hedge Busy. It was interesting to read that your garden was affected by the rain as my poor garden was really held back and was much less colourful then I would have liked. The plants that became very impressive - but later on - were my Tropaeolum speciosum, my Passiflora and my Clematis rehderiana (the last two are still going strong) all climbing together up the garage wall.
BTW T'bird, unthanks for reminding me that I could have taught you! (bet I would have known all the words too!)
