This a section of the hedge. In order to get it reconstructed I would welcome advice as to what is the talest seedling I can use and where would I get them? Many thanks
What a great hedge. I would cut it back pretty hard. It will grow back in spring. Overgrown holly is such a great plant for wildlife. The festooning berries provide valuable food in winter for birds.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.

First time commented on the thread, and haven't said anything negative so not sure how. But then I obviously lack your knack of interpretation, having only a bulk standard English degree so please excuse my ignorance, and I'll excuse your rudeness 😀
"I got into gardening only because my newly bought apartment came with a
big garden and I want to make it an oasis for bees and butterflies in
our town which is, like most places, a FOOD DESERT to bees, butterflies,
birds, hedgehogs, and foxes due to man's activities." @jac19 12/09/21
When did you move into said apartment? If you've just got into gardening where is all of this experience, that you use to give help and guidance, coming from?
If you are giving out advice from googling it and using text from other sites, rather than from your own actual experience of gardening, then I think you should make this very clear.
Most people come here to ask for help from people who have "done it" and lived the experience of gardening not just read about it; this is what makes this site a valuable and amazing resource. If they just wanted text from websites they could use google themselves.
I'm worried about inexperienced gardeners, such as myself, taking advice from people who don't really know what they're talking about.
I’m looking for
some advice this is my small border at the moment.. I’m a beginner
gardener so… im looking for some plants for my border that is winter
hardy and will last all year."
With this:
"Hi, and welcome. I am new here, too. And I was very much where you are today a year ago." 13/09/21
You're giving advice to many people on here based on ONE YEAR'S experience of gardening?
Please think about caveating your responses so that people are aware of this fact.
@TheGreenMan I think that is why many forum members have tried to set the record straight with some of that person's "advice". As you quite rightly point out, blatantly incorrect information can result in a lot of frustration and waste of time, money and effort for new gardeners who automatically assume the poster speaks from knowledge and experience.
Unfortunately, I think we could be flogging a dead horse here and you will simply lay yourself open to the repeated abuse which several posters have been subjected to.
I hope you will continue to ask for advice on the Forum despite this recent hiccup
There is an Ignore button @TheGreenMan Click on someone’s name and you’ll get a series of options. Click on the little ‘head & shoulders’ icon and you’ll get the option to Message or Ignore.
The problem is that, tempting as that option is, it then leaves new folk with queries at the mercy of some very unhelpful advice. At least if more knowledgeable folk see it they can point out the misunderstandings and save people from making expensive mistakes.

Perhaps you're right. Better to see it to perhaps combat any nonsense I see (with my very limited knowledge/experience) than to ignore it and let it cause damage.

What is the process when a post is reported? Is there any form of feedback or acknowledgment from the moderators?
