I would just go over to a bigger company for six months.

Ergates, yes I do that as well. We don't have fibre in the village,as soon as we do,I will check out comparisons for broadband.  My oldest son is my computer whizz kid.We have sky, have cut that package as well. My daughter has Amazon prime and we watch via her,and she "shares" our Sky. That's not going. We don't have holidays, don't often go out. I've had my 13 year old diesel for 8 years. You have to have some pleasures. We used to go to the cinema every couple of months. It was a quant old fashioned one, with discount for us "students," on a pension,it went bust in the pandemic. The big chains are ridiculously expensive. We cancelled our National Trust membership this year. Thankfully hubby is very good at DIY,after having new boiler,he installed all the new rads
Hung new doors, laid flooring. He installed the new bathroom and kitchen. Most energy companies you have to take a years contract or pay exit fees, same with every other contract. When we were out back with Scottish Power, they took 4 months to give us an account number. Every time I rang I was given a different story.

What a shame you lost your cinema, Nanny Beach. Although we hardly ever go to the cinema, there is a terrific one in Sidmouth, Art Deco styling, little tables between the seats in the balcony, and you can buy coffee etc to take in with you to watch the film. Quite charming, and very popular with the locals. I’m glad to see that it survived, although I don’t know if it resumed its weekly morning Silver Screen, it used to be £5 for pensioners, including tea and a biscuit!

Ergates, yes it was a bit tatty, owner and manager really nice. He used to go round before the film, make a joke about people using their mobile phones, but no one ever did. It was bang in town
The complex was the other side, of town, now in the shopping mall.always people on their damn phones, not just younger generation either. We were watching a Sci Fi film once,3 girls next to me,making and receiving messages the whole time, damn phone screen lit up. Last time we went there was a morning, family ticket,me, daughter and grandkids
Cheap deal, school holiday. There is an Art Deco in Hailsham, not tried it (going there for coffee today) now days we wait a few months,it comes on Amazon or Sky. Just looked up price of tickets for Cineworld,£10.20!!!
  • A few more months,it would have been the 100 year anniversary of its opening. The manager said the rent and heating bills were crippling

I thought I'd seen a TV program where they had a machine that did extract CO2. The prog talked about the machine being deployed in cities - I thought that sensibly it would be built into all industrial chimneys. Maybe I missed it and they were talking futures.

Edited to add: I hadn't realised that all those sealed bags of healthy leaves, veg, cheese etc contained CO2 as a preservative.

Yup.  Me neither.  More things to feel guilty about!

There are prototypes and some test installations UK’s largest carbon capture project to prevent equivalent of 22,000 cars’ emissions from polluting the atmosphere from 2021 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
This was expected to remove approximately 0.009% of the annual carbon emissions of the UK. Whereas trees are currently able to remove about 2% of the UK annual emissions.
