Farmer Gracy

How long does it take for the order to arrive? Ordered mid August. I have emailed them x3 and no reply. They are legitimate aren't they ?

  • Hi @suja61 and welcome to the forum :)

Yes, they're perfectly reputable.  What did you order?  Some plants are only sent out when dormant.

  • I have never had any problems with them, yes agree with Dove, different varieties at different times. Have always had regular e mails though

I haven't used them before, though I have some marked for purchase next spring.  They have a phone number.  I have found that calling is the best way to get help:

"If you would like to speak to us, please call Customer Services on 0330 808 7304
 — Leave us a message and we'll call you back as soon as possible.

NB: If calling from outside of the UK, please dial 0044 330 808 7304"

I have had very good experiences with other sites: Crocus, J Parker, Marshalls, Thompson & Morgan, Middleton Nurseries, YouGarden, Sarah Raven, Suttons, and Plant World Seeds.

I have bought plants and bare root roses from Bakker and very often they have arrived looking like the plants had been packed in a warehouse and neglected without seeing a drink of water for weeks.  But I have been able to revive most of them by tender care in nursery pots for a while.

I have had a terrible experience with Gardening Express and lost a lot of money from diseased plants they sent, though I have bought other plants from them before without much trouble.

    About to try Hayloft.
  • There are several 'Good Guys' threads reporting good service from various plant supplies that they have actually used  :)

  • I have used Farmer Gracy several times and had nothing but good service. I once received some irises that didn't perform and they replaced them without argument.
There are certain delivery times that they use as has already been explained so that may be the reason for the apparent delay.

I've always found them to be excellent. Cheaper companies often have smaller bulbs, which take longer to mature, so it's not always beneficial to use them, although it also depends on the product you're ordering. Some companies are just retail outlets so you're paying more for that, but F. Gracy is a specialist supplier.
Bear in mind that some stock comes from abroad so there are difficulties with that, as well as with staffing levels here in the UK just now.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Here is their schedule, it might take a little more time, this is the busy part of the season. They will tell you when your order has been dispatched.

  • Thankyou all . That has been very helpful.

I'm sure it'll be fine @suja61. I've got an order in but I think it's the end of this month before they'll be ready. I also ordered in August   :)
