Afties all. Nice visits with the rellies today. A wonderful skein of geese flew over my brother's garden whilst we were chatting. Quite beautiful but another sign that Autumn is knocking on the door.
Your secret is safe with us Dove 🙊 and what a lovely surprise is in store for next Spring.
Ruby, its good to hear that your OH is better today after his blackout.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Hello everyone. LB ouch, I hope your not too bruised, that must have hurt. I stayed up for the match, edge of your seat viewing. Well done to both girls. Busy enjoy your day with your family. Dove the daffodils will be a lovely surprise for your mil. Wishing you a good journey. One of my favourites. Biglad a jolly message with lovely pics. Enjoy your run. LB I’m glad you had a good visit with rellies this morning. I’m afraid I slept in after the late match. Lily it’s not a surprise that your primrose is in flower. We’ve had a strange year weather wise. They are lovely though. Hazel wishing you a good day. Sending my best wishes to all those in the quiet corner.
Getting there Biglad, getting there! Love your flowery border!
Busy, I know that you will be busy but I was just wondering if you had received any news about Caesar and his rehoming? I do hope the journey wasn't too traumatic for him - and P.
RosieBB, leg is not too bad today. I think I'll survive!
SGL, I usually find a primrose flowering at this time of year but I've not really had a proper look round today. I'll do that tomorrow as I'm too tired now after staying up for the match. Today's get up and go has got up and gone!

Lovely idea to surprise your MIL Dove. I'd do similar for mine but she seems to have got a bit of a gardening bug this last year so probably wouldn't appreciate anyone messing with her garden. I still get to use the snips on things she's not sure about though...🙂
LB - ouch - I often think us gardeners should wear PPE. I managed to step on on a very sharp pointed flint today which went straight through the sole of my shoe and into the sole of my foot - nice deep puncture wound now - hurt like crazy. I may have uttered a very naughty word very, very loudly🤭
Have just cut the grass and realised a mole is making it's way under the front lawn🤬 Also thought the box hedging was looking a bit different and closer inspection revealed that the long awaited box moth has finally found it's way to my garden🤬🤬🤬
So that's it. I'm fed up with (and don't really approve of) spraying fungicide several times a season against box blight and I have no intention of spraying insecticide against the caterpillar - so the dwarf box hedging is coming out - all 40m of it. This autumn if not sooner. Have seen quite a few queries on the forum this year about caterpillar damage so it's obviously chomping it's way across the country.
Decisions will then need to be made whether or not to replace the hedging with something else or just accept that the borders will be different in future
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Oh dear @Topbird, that's a lot to dig up. I hope it isn't munching its way to Norfolk and OH's garden.
What a lovely thing to do for MIL @Dovefromabove, she's a lucky lady.
@Ladybird4, Patrick came back with my horse trailer at 8.15pm, very tired after the long drive. He had photos of the place and Caesar being introduced to the boss donkey. They won't let him into the field with other donkeys yet until he's got used to having them in the field next door.
Son 2 and family (3 small boys 1 2yr old girl and 1 baby boy) have just gone. Son has mown and strimmered all the area along the little river on the boundary. He's done a great job, lots of brambles. We went fishing (for want of a better word!) there after lunch. The children had bamboo canes with string, Son had a flimsy fishing line with float and hook that he'd won in a raffle! First we dug for worms but they have all disappeared, there were worms but not now, managed to find 3 small ones. Son got excited because something nibbled his worm.
I had found 3 boxes of toys in the loft which they spread out on the study floor before lunch. We had lunch on the terrace. It was a lovely sunny day.
I got to have a good cuddle with baby Charles at last.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Sounds like a lovely day BL. I stayed up to watch the tennis. So glad I did. It was an amazing match. Took the boys to Warwick Castle today and walked miles. I’m shattered. So glad I haven’t got anything planned for tomorrow. The bird 🦅 of prey show was worth the entrance fee on its own.
Good grief T'Bird! Ouch ouch ouch! I remember getting a berberis thorn straight through the sole of one of my gardening crocs and that was horrid. I just didn't believe that this could happen. I have the deepest respect for that particular berberis and handle it with real care. I hope that your foot recovers quickly from that rude assault. Removing that length of box hedging will be a marathon task. Might be an idea to do a section at a time unless you have a military strength flame thrower to hand. So sad too, in a way, that such a vast stretch can be affected but I do agree about overkill with fungicides.
Busy what a perfectly lovely day you have had and what fun with all the family around - especially having Charles to cuddle.
Thank you for the update on Caesar. I am glad that he got to his new domain safely and that P can recover now after that long, two way journey. I can imagine Caesar will be very excited to have some kindred spirits around him now. I bet you will still miss him now and again.
Yvie, you sound to have had a wonderful day too - I bet you won't need rocking tonight when you go to bed. I love watching bird of prey displays too. Stunning animals.

Good work d-fab
Been a good weekend so far. Especially as there isn't as much green and a bit more red in the mini greenhouse today
The little bit of border that I sowed as an attempt at some later summer colour is actually starting to look 'proper'
All is well with the world so I'm off on a run to celebrate
