Would you treat this as a raised bed?

A tree, to me, is a “being” to respect and grow old with. I’d be heartbroken leaving a tree here.

It makes sense to me.  I would love to have a place to plant lots of trees and commune with. :)

  • I get that. I’ve always rented and not ever cared and never had a garden so it’s all very new although I am quite old and jaded myself.

This was a step onto the “property ladder”.

The next place will be the (hopefully) forever home. It will definitely include trees. @Fairygirl

Shrubby salvia hedging would do really well in that bed.

I still haven’t got over leaving my wisteria at the last place. I told the neighbours to take it and look after it/plant it in the ground. I hope they did.

Oh I would talk to any trees I eventually plant or inherit.

The great thing about this place is the view out of the french doors (hundreds of trees) and the two forests within a 20 minute walk. I feel like I’ve been reset after an afternoon walking amongst them.

Shrubby salvia would look great. I dabbled with a hot lips in my last place (in a pot) and loved how much the bees loved it.

I love that pic of your hedge. It pops!

    I’m sure I’ve seen a purple one?

There are hundreds of shrubby salvia types, purple, pink, red, yellow, cream - any colour and every colour. They vary in hardiness. They love fast drainage and lots of sun.

Two forests close by sounds very good.
  • I shall have a look in the GCs for some @Fire
