@Nollie, I would just say that although I like geraniums and have several, I do find that they do spread widely via underground quite thick runners and once you have them, it is near impossible to dig them out. so be aware although you probably do know all about them already.
Spent yesterday evening and lunch/evening today painting this one panel so I can fit the wires and plant mary delany this weekend 😆
Weather is now not looking good for painting the rest this weekend, which is really annoying. Also think I’m going to invest in a paint sprayer because painting it by hand is a miserably long job!!
I’ve certainly had that experience with Rozanne @Lizzie27, which I keep away from roses. Those destined for the new rose bed are mostly for the front, a metre or so from climbing roses, or for around the base of my new Ghislaine de Feligonde standard, which is sunk into the ground in an enormous black nursery pot so I’m hoping the roses will get sufficiently established to hold their own against any invasion!

Oh lord @Nollie, I had thought that Rozanne was different and have planted it near to two roses! That was only last year so I may be able to dig them both out. Thanks for the hint.
I'm still waiting for my catalogue. I spent loads last year so no idea why I haven't had one. My daughter ordered one and received it well over a week ago.
Just tried my first ever notching on two climbers, thanks to Marlorena (had to raid the kitchen drawer for a really sharp knife!). It will be interesting to see if anything happens.
@Lizzie27 I think it’s more the deep taproot of Rozanne that takes too much from from the roses as well as potentially overwhelming them in top growth, although if the roses are established first it may not be so much of a problem. @Fire GdeF is a new bare root just planted so nothing really to see yet, but will try and remember to post some photos tomorrow!
