I mentioned the poking of the bear a few months back. I tried to PM you,it wouldn't go through. Most of us are doing our bit for the environment, but course, the "greens" don't want nuclear, fracking, using our own,oil or gas. We import coal, how carbon friendly is that!

I had trouble for ages with PMs @Nanny Beach, so that may have been the reason.

    I blame Brexit  ;)

Fairy😂. Lady a few doors down walked back from the shop with me, today. Chatting (as you do!) Think she's about my age. Said they wouldn't have solar panels, because they don't like the look of them! I'm more interested in keeping bills down, frankly.

Me too @Nanny Beach . I may look into them again. Should have done it when I moved in here, but I needed an extension or I'd have been spending another 4 years sleeping on the settee.  ;)

I'm not with Octopus but have been doing this since finding the 'Tell me when to' link. Interesting to see it formalised but more responsive to the live situation, unlike the Economy 7 type arrangement.

This was always what was envisioned - its the reason smart meters are needed. Balancing the supply and demand is central to the whole net zero strategy for the UK

Finally got our new prices confirmed.

My monthly payment will only go up by £40 which is a massive relief! I was expecting it to double.

I’m glad I’ve been making a concerted effort to reduce our usage.

Checking on my gas usage over this winter and last, I find have used radically less than last winter which was cold and long, with regular frosts in London until the end of May. Temps didn't get very low, but stayed near freezing for months. Both years I set my therm. at around 18oC day and night - to keep a stable temp in the house.

I have installed and used thick door curtains, front and back, this winter. And I have kept the loft shut off. It may have been a difference too to gas used. It's hard to know as outside temps are so changable.

I'm with the same company @TheGreenMan and ours has gone up £20. I can alter it, but frankly, it's not worthwhile. I'm still in credit, which wouldn't normally happen, and we've used far less energy this winter - mainly because there hasn't been one here, as far as we're concerned.
Something to be thankful for, although I hate it being like this. It's not what we're used to at all!
This house is well insulated which helps, but there are things we can't avoid using. We just try and be more economical where we can. Not ironing anything is one  ;)
