I’ve been outside and dug up some sweet pea seedlings that we’re on a pathway and transplanted them to a tub and put them in the greenhouse until I’ve got a clear space for them near the trellis. At least they’ll get watered in there. I keep thinking that it MUST rain soon, but feel like giving up. It’s been a nice mild weather day. Good weather for me to be outside.
Lizzie, yes that hare seems large to me, as well. It could be that he was close to the camera, but I’m no expert on them. They aren’t native to Oz, introduced many years ago, I guess for people to hunt and eat them. 🙄. Not me though. I’m a bit squeamish about killing animals to eat. It is ok from a butcher though. 😂😂 I know, ….strange
Good morning Forkers. Sunny at the mo after a dawn dribble and looks to stay clear for a while. Once I've had my cuppa I shall go and tackle some large weeds - mainly that Canadian erigeron - in the newest bed and some seedling weeds in the oldest - assuming there have been just enough 1 or 2mm dribbles to soften the soil a bit. Failing that, I have teeny baby cavolo nero and PSB to check out for pricking out. Very pleased with those after the chooks ate the original sowing.
I need to tie some strings to the stalks of a white Michaelmas daisy that has spread in the rose beds as it's too tall and needs moving later on when I'll probably mistake it for the Canadian stuff. Then some bulbs to plant in the spaces but not too close to those daisies or they'll be disturbed.
@didyw Family celebrations are cool here whatever one's age and I think it's great to see all the generations so involved with each other.
@Dovefromabove we see gulls in the port at Les Sables and the harbours at smaller places but the shore usually has what I thought were sandpipers but turn out to be stints and sanderlings. Must be about time to head to the observatory in the nature reserve to see the migrating birds coming in to the tidal marshes for winter.

I think we might get some rain this morning. We got seduced by the lovely bit of sun through the bedroom window and headed up to the Donkey Sanctuary. A large coffee later, and stuffed with pastries, I’m now looking at the cloud descending rapidly. We usually have two to three miles walk round the pathways, but I ought to take a coat, and I’ve a horrid suspicion that I don’t have one in the car. OH emptied out all the extraneous junk when we took the car for its service, and of course I forgot to replace the essentials, rain mac, shopping bags etc. I think I might have a folding umbrella in my backpack though, that will do at a pinch. I need a good walk to clear my brain and boost my mood. Try not to let trivia that’s out of my control get me down, but sometimes it just does.
Morning all, If you expect rain @Ergates, I'd better get a move on as it will probably be heading our way in about 3-4 hours, I've planting to do this morning. Sounds as though you are keeping the Donkey Sanctuary going just on coffee and cake!
Enjoy your amble round your garden @Punkdoc and hope you have a good day @Hostafan1 - how are all your hosta babies?
We've got all the generations coming, from babies to 86 year olds, to our big family do next week. It'll be noisy but fun I hope. Hope your 'do' goes well @didyw.
I bet the migrating birds are a grand sight @Obelixx. I think our friends drove us through those wetlands on the way back from La Rochelle, or am I getting mixed up with places? Glad your little seedlings survived this time.
Right, we have blue skies and sunshine right now so time to chuck myself out there.
Yes, Lizzie27, it is a major consolation to me that, as I stuff myself with coffee, cake etc, I am valiantly contributing to the upkeep of the donkeys! I shall pick up some goodies from the gift shop and maybe a plant too while I’m here. All goes to a good cause! And the sun is out now, and it hasn’t rained. Might stay dry for you too.
